It was very tempting not remind people who were waiting for the royal baby, that it's not a baby until it's 18 months out of the womb. Until then, they're waiting for a royal fetus.

Hahaha, very true.

I have seen articles noting the irony of pro-choicers eagerly awaiting the arrival of a baby.

Is it normal custom for Americans to call married women by their maiden names?

Americans will never learn to call our Country by its proper name of United Kingdom, not England. It would be if I kept on referring to the USA as Texas.
 
The Grampa, Prince Charles said in 2011 that he is related by blood to Vlad the Impaler. Also known as Dracula and the grandchild was born on a full moon. I hope that all is not some sort of omen and just coincidence.

Haha, my apologies. I can see how a Briton would find that very annoying.

To my (lame) defense, if I refer to your country in general conversation, I do use "the UK" "United Kingdom" and "Britain" interchangeably.

In this instance though, I was thinking in terms of origins. The political tradition our little friend has unknowingly entered in to is best traced back to what was the English crown (as opposed to Scottish, Pictish, Irish, etc,etc,etc).

I'll own up to the faux pas though. If every British person referred to my home country as Virginia, I would get rather miffed.

Actually, saying English monarchy wasn't wrong. They are the monarchs of England, as well as a few other places.

Go ahead and call the USA, Texas, but we could only hope.
