Honestly Dude, fighting bigotry with stereotypes isn't the way to go. To paint the entire state of Mississippi with the same brush for one incident is unfair. Not nearly as unfair as what the bigots in the article did, but we're supposed to overcome evil with good.

The Baptists do not consider marriage a sacrament, i.e. it's not sacred to them, having just two ordinances or sacraments - Baptism and Communion. The Baptists have the highest rate of divorce of the major organized denominations. Probably better that all Baptists were as John the Baptist and remained unmarried and celibate.
Folks, if you are in a Baptist church, consider your doctrines and your understandings of the Precepts of The Way, and come out of that Calvinistic, Old Testament focused (hence so much with marriage and divorce) false religion. Come to Jesus, The Way, come to "The Church" which is Ekklesia-called out. Changing the name of the Baptist Religion won't cover the evils of sin of the last century of pragmatic Calvinism, better to just get out altogether.
As to any Racist issue - it appears in the instant case it looks like an issue. Folks, what of the larger issues of a greater than 50 percent illegitimacy rate and seemingly unfettered procreation or abortion? If you are Baptists, it is again clear you cannot preach your gospel, instead, tending to fall to all manners of things to make pastors rich, to join the Council on Foreign Relations, to move towards Baptist-Sharia-Law, to accept illegitimacy and homosexuality and more. Come out of her my people, be not partakers of her sins and receivers of her plagues ...

I believe this story to be a deception. The pastor did marry them - just at another church. The Pastor said the wedding had been planned for months and the couple went to church there. He goes on to say like a day before the wedding he was told if he married them in his church he would be fired. So basically in one day he found another church to marry these people and they did not fire him. I say if it was racist they would have fired him no matter what.
So sad. And so wrong. I knew a LA church that had it in its constitution that only white people could join.

Here's what annoys me. The pastor did not marry the couple in the church because he knew his congregation would not be pleased?? Here in lies the problem. There are way too many pastors who are more concerned about pleasing their congregation than doing what is right and pleasing God. Not to get off on a rabit trail here, but let's look at the easter situation. We all know that easter is a pagan abomination and that it has no business being in the house of God, however too many pastors still bring it into the church for fear of ffending the congregation. Bottem line, as a pastor you are ultimately accountable to God, not to a congregation.
