physical light, photons.

so-called big bang cosmology fits neatly with this - it appears by examination of 'the things which are seen' that creation has a specific origin both in space and time, and that the universe was 'stretched out like a tent' from then until now.

it also predicts that, in the earliest times, the universe was so dense that a photon ((unit of light)) could not travel it's minimum wavelength ((see Heisenburg, hν)) - - until, by the mechanism of expansion, there was a definite, single point in time that the density of all physical, boronic matter was such that a photon could move exactly one wavelength - thus - let there be light, and there was light.
big bang cosmology predicts that there was a time after that creation without light, until at a specific moment, physical light began to exist.

just like scripture.

v.4 cannot be speaking of Christ, The Light, because He is eternal and pre-exists creation, all things created having been created by Him, for Him and through Him.
that is, Genesis 1:4 doesn't mean, God saw Himself and regarded Himself good, if that's what you meant to ask.

got any hard questions, tho?
you're soft-balling.

If the primordial atom existed before the beginning of time, which didn't begin until it rapidly expanded to form the known and observed universe. so while he claims his hypothesis give you the right to deny God, it will require you to.

is Jesus Christ created from the beginning? does scripture witness to that, or to the contrary?

is His instantiatiom nothing? or is the hypostatic union an indescribable miracle?

you seem to be telling us that the greatest of all mysteries, that God became flesh, is peanuts.

This is an interesting philosophical question. The account in Genesis 1:1-2 is simple in English, but there are a lot of unused roots in Hebrew which cause trouble in determining exactly what is meant. Did God create out of nothing, plausible, or is He forming something already existent, matter/energy being another irreducible state much like consciousness (God/the fundamental soul stuff of all entities). Either could theoretically be possible, which would render mathematics as something independent of God and unfortunately recent science complicates the question. An all-powerful, all-knowing, all-loving, just and holy entity (essentially fitting our understanding of God) appears to be plausible if not outright probable but could raise new issues about quantum physics (as if it was freaky enough already).

At present, the only thing that appears certain is that God is outside of our concept of time which can be influenced by mass and/or relative velocity.

i hope i gave enough hints, that i - with as close to a PhD in math as one can get without completing it - believe math is created by God, and we like children discover it

it remains an open question in higher learning - unproven, either way, in a mathematical sense.

So answer the question, what light did God see in verse 4?
Maybe this light -
Rev 21:23
And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
And,
Rev 22:5
And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

Adam before his fall had no notion of seasons. He lived naked.
So, are you suggesting that a person who lives naked cannot possibly notice the change of sun intensity, and moon phases, over a year and months, and plants germinating when the temperatures are warming as the climate leaves winter and seasons and sidereal rotation happening in a regular annual cycle?

When Adam fell the creation on earth fell.
The climate had been ideal all the time until he fell.

Genesis 3:17-18

To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree
about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’
“Cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat food from it
all the days of your life.
It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
and you will eat the plants of the field.

Remember that?

We know that the climate in the Garden was ideal for life before sin happened. But Adam and Eve tended the garden and were commissioned to keep/have authority over it and dress/work it -
Gen 2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it (‘aBaD) and to keep it.

‘aBaD is a primary root meaning -

עָבַד ʻâbad, aw-bad'; a primitive root; to work (in any sense);
Adam and Eve were to work the land, but they did not need to fight the weeds as they worked the land.

שָׁמַר shâmar, shaw-mar'; a primitive root; properly, to hedge about
(Qal)
1. to keep, have charge of
Since this is the beginning of man’s hearing of the Hebrew language, I think God meant the primary root. He was giving Adam and Eve the authority to determine who or what could come within its borders/hedge/walls and who or what could not. They maintained the border. They could have commanded the serpent to leave when he sneaked in uninvited through the entrance that God later placed an angel at to keep Adam and Eve from having access to the tree of life.

And we know that God commissioned mankind to master the planet -
Gen 1:28
And God blessed them, and God said to them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it (KaBaSh): and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.

KaBaSh has the primary meaning of (1) TO TREAD WITH THE FEET, TO TRAMPLE UNDER FEET.
כָּבַשׁ kâbash, kaw-bash'; a primitive root; to tread down; hence, negatively, to disregard; positively, to conquer, subjugate, violate:—bring into bondage, force, keep under, subdue, bring into subjection.

Since this is God’s commission to Adam and Eve at the time they were formed, I think God used it here to mean its primary meaning: He was giving them freedom to walk anywhere on the planet. I think that, after man fell, it came to also connote to subdue and to disregard someone or something else.

Also, God made the lights in the heavens for a purpose-
Gen 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

It would seem odd if man did not use these lights for these reasons God made them, until Moses.

Ok, you got me there, I was taught that the eternal One saw his only begotten upon on the waters.

The eternal one "This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. " And the LORD "Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:"
[1 John 1:5][Col 1:15]
what's this invisible light you speak of? secret photons wearing hoodies and baseball caps? maybe buying skittles and sprite at gas stations in FLA after curfew
The light brighter than the Sun.

And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
As it is written, "But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you."
And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.

is Jesus Christ created from the beginning? does scripture witness to that, or to the contrary?
The only begotten of the eternal One is the LORD thy God who gave his word that whosoever should believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
is His instantiation nothing? or is the hypostatic union an indescribable miracle?
For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. .John 5:46

I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. Deut 18:18

But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words? John 5:47

Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. John 12:44

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak. John 12:44

you seem to be telling us that the greatest of all mysteries, that God became flesh, is peanuts.
If that is what you interpret I am saying, I appreciate the honest feedback. I have never said you could not believe whatever you want to believe neither have I said that the LORD has not manifested in the flesh,

And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: Gen 6:3

Until Moses?

Men did not get to read Genesis until Moses.
By then, man knew of all those things mentioned.

God is not stupid.
He knew man would fall.

And, knew what needs for man would take place when creation fell.
Therefore, God provided in Genesis 1:14 for what He knew would be needed.

But, note:

God waited until after the fall (to make known through Moses) what in His omniscience was knowing concerning the state of the earth as we now know it.

Adam and Eve did not need to know those things no more than a small child needs to know how to drive a car.
Genesis 1:14 was God providing for future of mankind's needs.

Besides? How could they celebrate Adam's birthday each year when he had no belly button? ;)

Out perceived time begins with creation. Now how can God exist in our time frame and still be the Creator?
So, I must be outside of my children’s time frame, because how could I exist in their time frame and still be their father ?

My being outside their time frame before they came into being does not mean I was not experiencing time before they were conceived.

Back to the original question concerning no months or days?
Sorry again for going off topic. It won't happen again.
Have you considered these generations were all born and died on the same day of the year and being the reason for no months or days?
Consider this verse, "So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." Ps 90:12

The answer is given within the first six chapters on the number of man's days upon this earth in the flesh. If the gospel is hid it is hid to them that are lost.

Adam was born on January 5, 4004 B.C. and entered the Kingdom on June 30, 3927 BC, at the age of 77 years, 5 months, and 25 days where he lived out the remainder of his days.

The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. Ps 90:10

He died at the age of 930.

Yea, though he live a thousand years twice told, yet hath he seen no good: do not all go to one place? Eccl 6:6
For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. Ps 90:4

So, I must be outside of my children’s time frame, because how could I exist in their time frame and still be their father ?

My being outside their time frame before they came into being does not mean I was not experiencing time before they were conceived.
Let's see, your children exist within created time, you exist in created time, no contradiction. Now God exists BEFORE created time. Do you really think that being in the same time frame is comparable to being in totally different time frames? God existed before the universe and its associated time came to be, how can He possibly be in the same time frame as the creation. Your children were BORN into the universe's time frame, just as you live within it. God CREATED the universe's time frame, He cannot be in it.
