For the record my bible of choice was the NIV. I used it for years. Then a friend of mine gave me a book and the more I read the more I couldn't believe what I was reading. Eventually I was flipping through my bible in disbelief and with tears running down my face and with clinched teeth I knew I'd been deceived. I just want to open more eyes.

I grew up with NIV. Then searching online, suddenly came across verses that didn't say what they used to. The verses felt as if they'd literally had their teeth removed. I realised the NIV in my search was the new NIV 2010 (or similar), not the old NIV '86 or something I'd been used to. This made me do some research, and I came to the conclusion most (if not all) of the new versions are designed to mislead (a little bit at a time). I believe in a generation or two, these bibles will be full of heresy or at least huge distortions of truth.

I now use the old KJV, but would go back further if I could, say to Geneva (obviously not to "old" fraud texts like the Sinaiticus or Vaticanus). The older, the better, I believe. Less time for the NWO folks to have interfered with the texts and added their own feminist/homosexual/cultist/etc. spins.

Archaeologists/Literary Criticists claim certain verses didn't exist in the original text and was a later addition. There is actually a verse (In the book of John I think) that is actually widely accepted as a forgery.

I do not believe it just because they claim it though, but that's the word on the street in the realm of Academia

I'm not of the whole KJV onlyist crowd, although that is the only translation I personally own and read when studying......There's absolutely nothing wrong with the KJV translation so why change from my perspective.

I do not ever read the NIV, I make no claim as far is it being a bad/inaccurate/intentionally distorted translation though because I haven't done enough research on it to be able to say so. The reason I never read it is because it is published by Zondervan publishing.....it's parent company (Harper Collins) also publishes the Satanic bible and a book called "The Joy of Gay sex". That's enough for me to go nowhere near it.

no Donkeyfish, when they say it wasn't in the original they are only talking about vaticanus and sinaiticus.. both fraudulent manuscripts. I will never understand how or why people would want to argue with thousands upon thousands of manuscripts that were literally found in turkey the very land that Paul was traveling..

well I have done more than enough research.. it is exactly- intentionally distorted.

A New Perspective?

“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Textus Receptus

Prior to the 20th century, all English Bibles since Tyndale's first New Testament (1526) were based on the Textus Receptus. This includes: Miles Coverdale's Bible (1535), Matthew's Bible (1500-1555), The Great Bible (1539), The Geneva Version (1560), The Bishops' Bible (1568), and the King James Version (1611). [SIZE=-1][STORY OF OUR ENGLISH BIBLE, by W. Scott][/SIZE]

  • Textus Receptus is based on the vast majority (over 95%) of the 5,300+ Greek manuscripts in existence. That is why it is also called the Majority Text.
  • Textus Receptus is not mutilated with deletions, additions and amendments, as is the Minority Text.
  • Textus Receptus agrees with the earliest versions of the Bible: Peshitta (AD150) Old Latin Vulgate (AD157), the Italic Bible (AD157) etc. These Bibles were produced some 200 years before the Minority Texts (like Vatican and Sinai) favored by the Roman Catholic Church.
  • Textus Receptus agrees wih the vast majority of the 86,000+ citations from scripture by the early church fathers.
  • Textus Receptus is untainted with Egyptian philosophy and unbelief.
  • Textus Receptus strongly upholds the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith: the creation account in Genesis, the divinity of Jesus Christ, the virgin birth, the Saviour's miracles, his bodily resurrection, his literal return and the cleansing power of his blood!
  • Textus Receptus was (and still is) the enemy of the Roman Catholic Church.

Thanks for showing us this site, PoxEclipse.

It's worth noting that if the Rosicrucian symbols were on the 1st page of the original 1611 kjv, there were probably other "additions'' to this bible as well, especially knowing about half of the people who translated it weren't even christians.

As far as the niv is concerned, IMO it's one of the worst translations I've ever read. It's also the bible of choice for liberal christians. 'Nuff said.

wow, I read the whole thing and his entire point was this

Here are the historic facts which we uncovered in mid-1997. During the time of Queen Elizabeth I and Sir Francis Bacon, Rosicrucians and Freemasons mounted an inside grievous attack on the KJV, symbols of which are clearly seen in our very expensive original copy of the 1611 KJV. However, once this assault ran its course, the text proved to be wonderfully accurate! The Holy Spirit came to the defense of the KJV and prevented these occultists from ruining the text!!

Wow, What a response. It seems the bibles of today, seems to have faults and flaws and twisted lies, added and taken out of the scriptures. No wonder why people are going to hell. No wonder why people are so confused as to which bible to believe in. and no wonder why people don't know the real truth. So I feel I wasted my 30 years of going to church and reading a book that has no value to me because all I been doing is reading lies upon lies. Well seems that the devil has really corrupted the minds of people,

I am reluctant to ask these questions, but what the heck? how much more lies am I going to get?

1. Which bible is true?
2. what bible are we to read and believe in?
3. What bible are we to trust?

[SIZE=+1]Textual History of the Bible[/SIZE]
Many Christians are completely unaware that modern Bible versions differ from the King James Bible in a way they never expected … they are not translated from the same Bible text!

The "Received Text"
Down through history, long before the advent of the printing press, men made copies of the Scriptures by hand. However, they did not all do so with the same attitude toward the Scriptures. Many made their copies with a sense of spiritual awe, not daring to change a word, because it was the Word of God. Archaeologists have found thousands of these copies from all over the ancient world, and been amazed at how they agree! Truly God did preserve His Word in His church. The text they give us is often called by one of the following names:

Textus Receptus (Latin for "Received Text")
Byzantine Text - because of the part of the world in which we find it
Antiochan Text - the church at Antioch used it

The "Alexandrian Text"
However in Alexandria, Egypt, a group of "scholars" thought they could do better. When they made their copies, they made "corrections" that they thought better presented what the Scriptures should say. Some of their errors were gross blunders (like quoting Malachi and calling it Isaiah) but others were more subtle (slight word changes to take away the deity of Christ). They removed verses they didn't like. The Alexandrian copyists had one more characteristic … they couldn't agree with each other! Their copies differ not only from the vast majority of existing Scripture texts, but even from each other. A very small number of these manuscripts exist today. This is called the Alexandrian Text.
Choosing which text to use
All of our existing copies come from one of the two textual streams described above. We call them "streams" because they are made of copies made from copies. By comparing them and noting their differences, it is easy to determine from which stream each copy came.
Honest scholars understood that if God really kept His promise to preserve His Word, then we would expect to find copies all over the church at large that agree. Sure enough, they found that 95% of all existing copies agreed, coming from the Antiochan (or Byzantine) text, so it was clear that the Received Text, based upon these agreeing copies all over the ancient church, was the correct one. This is the text used by Luther, Tyndale, Calvin, Matthews, Coverdale. When King James commissioned his famous English Bible translation, the scholars naturally used this Received Text.

Not everyone believed God kept His promise
In the mid nineteenth century, two scholars came along who helped to change everything. Their names were Fenton John Anthony Hort and Brook Foss Westcott. From their personal correspondence, it is clear that Hort and Westcott did not hold a faith comparable to that held by millions of evangelical Christians today. Dr. Samuel C. Gipp, Th.D., writes:
"It cannot be said that they believed that one could attain Heaven by either works or faith, since both believed that Heaven existed only in the mind of man.
Westcott believed in and attempted to practice a form of Communism whose ultimate goal was communal living on college campus's which he called a "coenobium. "
Both believed it possible to communicate with the dead and made many attempts to do just that through a society which they organized and entitled "The Ghostly Guild."
Westcott accepted and promoted prayers for the dead. Both were admirers of Mary (Westcott going so far as to call his wife Sarah, "Mary"),and Hort was an admirer and proponent of Darwin and his theory of evolution.
It is obvious to even a casual observer why they were well equipped to guide the Revision Committee of 1871-1881 away from God's Antiochian text and into the spell of Alexandria."
From "The Answer Book" by Samuel Gipp
Gaining positions on the committee to "revise" the King James Bible, Hort and Westcott persuaded the committee to abandon the Received Text which had been preserved by the ancient church. Instead, the committee was convinced to use the Alexandrian text, provided by the Roman Catholic Church who had preserved it. They accepted the notion that God had not preserved His Word in the ancient Church, but had instead entrusted it to the hand of the Roman Catholic Church, the organization which had hunted and slaughtered Christians who dared possess their own copy of God's Word!

Is this any way to translate a Bible?
Having sold the Alexandrian text to the revision committee, Hort and Westcott became the gurus of Bible texts. The translators often faced an impossible problem. Having abandoned the broad evidence of history, throwing out 95% of the available copies, they had to decide exactly what each verse should say based upon only 5% of the available evidence. And there was the problem. These few texts could not even agree with each other! How do you decide which is correct?
Enter Hort and Westcott. They decided what the text should say, and the committee dutifully translated it. So instead of the authority of the Bible text coming from the broad evidence of history, it was coming from the intellect of two respected scholars. God doesn't do things that way. A study of the lives and theology of these two men helps explain why their biblical text began to have holes in it … verses were missing!

It's a simple choice
All modern Bible versions are based upon the work of Hort and Westcott, using the corrupt Alexandrian text. The King James Bible is based upon the Received Text. If you believe that God allowed his Word to be hidden from the church for centuries, only to be revealed much later by the Roman Catholic Church, you will want a modern Bible based upon the Alexandrian text.
If you believe that God preserved His Word in His church, throughout the centuries, you will want a King James Bible, based upon the historical Received Text. The choice is yours.

thanks trust, I do like to believe I know quite a bit about it but my brain doesn't maintain tedious facts like that. That particular information is from here.

TEXTUS RECEPTUS…THE MAJORITY TEXT

Before we consider the King James Version (KJV) and a few of the modern translations in use today, let us first consider certain Greek texts from which all New Testament translations are derived. Foremost amongst these is the Traditional Received Text (Textus Receptus), also called the Byzantine Text or the Majority Text because it is based on the vast majority of manuscripts still in existence. These extant manuscripts (MSS) were brought together by various editors such as Lucian (AD 250-312), Erasmus, Stephanus, Beza and the Elzevir brothers to form the text known as Textus Receptus, the name given to the Majority Text in the 17[SUP]th[/SUP] century. The most notable editor of all was Desiderius Erasmus (1466-1536) one of the greatest scholars the world has ever known. When the early Protestant Reformers of the 16[SUP]th[/SUP] and 17[SUP]th[/SUP] centuries decided to translate the Scriptures directly from Greek into the languages of Europe, they selected Textus Receptus as their foundation Greek document. It is vitally important to understand why they did so.

Wilkinson writes in his book Truth Triumphant:
"The Protestant denominations are built upon that manuscript of the Greek New Testament sometimes called Textus Receptus, or the Received Text. It is that Greek New Testament from which the writings of the apostles in Greek have been translated into English, German, Dutch and other languages. During the dark ages the Received Text was practically unknown outside the Greek Church. It was restored to Christendom by the labours of that great scholar Erasmus. It is altogether too little known that the real editor of the Received Text was Lucian. None of Lucian's enemies fails to credit him with this work. Neither Lucian nor Erasmus, but rather the apostles, wrote the Greek New Testament. However, Lucian's day was an age of apostasy when a flood of depravations was systematically attempting to devastate both the Bible manuscripts and Bible theology. Origen, of the Alexandrian college, made his editions and commentaries of the Bible a secure retreat for all errors, and deformed them with philosophical speculations introducing casuistry and lying. Lucian's unrivalled success in verifying, safeguarding, and transmitting those divine writings left a heritage for which all generations should be thankful." (Ref: J2)

Two Bibles
In his book Which Bible? David Otis Fuller says this about Textus Receptus. Carefully note Fuller's first point that all churches (we could now add all Bible students) fall into one of two basic study categories:
  • Those who use a variety of Bibles influenced by the Minority Text (the Nestle/Aland Text). For 45 years I was in this camp: but I thank God I had my eyes opened.
  • Those who only study Bibles based on the Received Text (Textus Receptus). I have now joined this camp.

Fuller writes :
"First of all, the Textus Receptus was the Bible of early Eastern Christianity. Later it was adopted as the official text of the Greek Catholic Church. There were local reasons which contributed to this result. But, probably, far greater reasons will be found in the fact that the Received Text had authority enough to become, either in itself or by its translation, the Bible of the great Syrian Church; of the Waldensian Church of northern Italy; of the Gallic Church in southern France; and of the Celtic Church in Scotland and Ireland; as well as the official Bible of the Greek Catholic Church.
All these churches, some earlier, some later, were in opposition to the Church of Rome and at a time when the Received Text and these Bibles of the Constantine type were rivals. They, as represented in their descendants, are rivals to this day. The Church of Rome built on the Eusebio-Origen type of Bible; these others built on the Received Text. Therefore, because they themselves believed that the Received Text was the true apostolic Bible, and further, because the Church of Rome arrogated to itself the power to choose a Bible which bore the marks of systematic depravation, we have the testimony of these five churches to the authenticity and the apostolicity of the Received Text." ( Ref: F1)

Why did the early churches of the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] and 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] centuries and all the Protestant Reformers of the 15[SUP]th[/SUP], 16[SUP]th[/SUP] and 17[SUP]th[/SUP] centuries choose Textus Receptus in preference to the Minority Text? The answer is because:
  • Textus Receptus is based on the vast majority (90%) of the 5000+ Greek manuscripts in existence.
These Bibles were produced some 200 years before the minority Egyptian codices favoured by the Roman Church. Remember this vital point.
  • Textus Receptus agrees with the vast majority of the 86,000+ citations from scripture by the early church fathers.
  • Textus Receptus is untainted with Egyptian philosophy and unbelief.
  • Textus Receptus strongly upholds the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith: the creation account in Genesis, the divinity of Jesus Christ, the virgin birth, his miracles, his bodily resurrection and literal return.
  • Textus Receptus was - and still is - the enemy of the Roman Church. This is an important fact to bear in mind.

Reverend Gipp comments further:
"The Majority Text has been known throughout history by several names. It has been known as the Byzantine text, the Imperial Text, the Traditional Text and the Reformation Text as well as the Majority Text. This text culminates in the TEXTUS RECEPTUS or Received Text which is the basis for the King James Bible, which we know also as the Authorized Version....We describe this text with the term "Universal," because it represents themajority of extant MSS which represent the original autographs. Professor Hodges of Dallas Theological Seminary explains, "The manuscript of an ancient book will, under any but the most exceptional conditions, multiply in a reasonable regular fashion with the result that the copies nearest the autograph will normally have the largest number of descendants." (Ref:B3)

Continuing from page 66 in Gipp's book:
"Professor Hodges concludes, 'Thus the Majority text, upon which the King James Version is based, has in reality the strongest claim possible to be regarded as an authentic representation of the original text. This claim is quite independent of any shifting consensus of scholarly judgment about its readings and is based on the objective reality of its dominance in the transmissional history of the New Testament text.' " (Ref:B4)

In his book God Wrote Only One Bible, Jasper J Ray pens the following testimony about Textus Receptus:
"Wonder of wonders, in the midst of all the present confusion regarding manuscripts, we still have a Bible we can trust. The writing of the word of God by inspiration is no greater miracle than the miracle of its preservation in the Textus Receptus. All criticism of this text from which was translated the King James Bible, is based upon an unproved hypothesis: i.e. that there are older and more dependable copies of the original Bible manuscripts. No one in nineteen hundred years, has been able to prove that one jot or tittle has been inserted or taken out." (Ref:D3)

In his book Final Authority, William P Grady provides further interesting details about Textus Receptus, the Received Text:
"For instance, over 5,000 Greek manuscripts of the New Testament exist today ranging from small fragments containing two or three verses to nearly entire Bibles. Their ages vary from the second to the sixteenth century; the manuscripts are ending with the arrival of printing. By comparison, there exist only ten quality manuscripts of Caesar's Gallic War composed between 58-50BC… "Once again, the outstanding features of the Received Text is its high percentage of agreement among so many thousands of independent witnesses. This agreement is often placed at about 90 percent; in other words, 90 percent of all existing manuscripts agree with one another so miraculously that they are able to form their own unique text…
If the critic of your King James Bible is correct in his rejection of the underlying Textus Receptus, then he is also under the greatest pressure to account for its existence. To complain of fabrication is one thing, but to account for its universal prevalence is quite another. Whenever a large body of ancient documents are seen to be in agreement, this inexplicable harmony becomes their greatest evidence for legitimacy. Simple arithmetic confirms that the nearer a particular reading is to the original, the longer the time span will be for descendants to follow. The longer the family is, the older the original source must be." (Ref: E1)
TEXTUS RECEPTUS...THE MAJORITY TEXT

Excellent post! Great information.

There is indeed a conspiracy; a very real one. Satan hates God. And therefore Satan also hates God's true word.

Satan knows that he cannot get rid of God's word.

So what he has done is produced multiple counterfeits (somewhere in the ballpark of 230+) which say they are bibles when they are not.

Also, one of the main reasons the modern versions are so vile and corrupt is because the manuscripts from which they were translated are corrupt.

Siniaticus which nearly all the modern versions are based on is a manuscript which over a period of several centuries is said to have been tampered with by at least ten different scribes. Tischendorf noted that he counted 14,800 alterations and corrections in Siniaticus. Siniaticus also contains 7 books that are not in the Holy Bible.

The Vaticanus manuscript which is the second key manuscript which underlies the modern versions is also very corrupt and unreliable. Just take a look at all the Scriptures that are omitted by the Vaticanus manuscript:

-*Genesis 1:1-46; 28.

-*Psalms 106-138.

-*Matthew 16:2-3.

-*Mark 16:9-20.

-*1st & 2nd Timothy and Titus.

-*And also every Scripture after Hebrews 9:14 is omitted in the Vaitcanus manuscript.

And these omissions in the Vaticanus manuscript were intentional. In the Gospels alone; 748 whole sentences are removed.

This very manuscript is kept in the Vatican. And for several hundred years it was not even open to the public.

One of the reasons these manuscripts were put into secret libraries is because the early Christians rejected them.

And one final note about the Vaticanus manuscript; also known as manuscript 1209. A direct translation of manuscript 1209 is the New World Translation (the Jehovah's Witness bible).

So, one of the manuscripts (Vaticanus) which have been used to "correct" and "revise" the King James Bible; is the very one which is the basis and foundation for the New World Translation.

Ever wonder why the NIV and NWT read so much alike? As a matter of fact; has anyone ever wondered why most of the modern versions omit the very same verses which the NWT omits?

Well the reason should be clear now. The corrupt source of the New World Translation (Vaticanus (B) - manuscript 1209) is also the basis for the modern versions.

So there is no doubt about it. The modern versions do omit verses from the Scriptures. They take away from the word of God.

Which is one of the reasons why a true Born again Christian should not be using them.

And even though some of them may be found in the footnotes of some modern versions; still though, they don't belong in the footnotes. They belong in the TEXT.

*see post "Codexsinaiticus.org" (in the bible discussion forum) to see a manuscript that has been used as example of "ancient text that didn't have those verses." There are photos and text taken from said website above. Showing CLEARLY where fresh letters are written over different older letters, and crammed words in various places and text from the codex sinaiticus website that state "changes were made to the document at some point in history." Codex Sinaiticus doesn't agree with the thousands (majority) texts that agree to 99.5% Along with the Codex Vaticanus (in the Vatican) that doesn't agree with the thousands either, nor do they agree with each other. These are the two most prominent manuscripts that were utilized in creating "new age" versions. Also the NIV before 1984 is different than more modern versions. Ergo there may be differences in your own NIV than what some websites will denote. However that doesn't make them lies, there are LOTS of different versions going around. The key to selecting a good bible is not in finding the best translation, but finding one that is the right 'transcription."
