If a policeman kills it's not murder if he's defending our life or his. God looks at our hearts. I've heard it said and seen it posted on facebook that Moses was a murderer. Would you say that everyone who kills is a murderer? A policeman who kills defending his life or ours, you wouldn't say he was a murderer would you? There were no police to administer justice to the Hebrew people. The beating that Moses saw moved his heart to stop it the only way he could! He didn't do it with malice of heart or hate. Moses got a reward in Heaven for doing what he did to save another's life. The fact that he hid the body, just means he didn't want to get caught. God said he was the most humble person of his time. God never called him a murderer, only some Christians do. If you agree pass it on.

Eddywho, Moses was a murderer. I understand that he wanted justice and was angry with how the Israelites were being mistreated. But he committed murder and fled for his life and even caused a lot of the Israelites to be scared of him. You need to read the whole story. There is self-defense but this was not self-defense, it was wrong. Otherwise, he would not have buried the Egyptian and fled to Haran, instead he would have turned himself in and explained himself. The Bible warns about leaning on your own understanding instead of God's, while Moses might have thought that what he was doing was right, it was not according to God. While God might have called Moses the most humble person of his time, that does not mean what he did was right. I will not pass it on. God bless. :)

I agree with willfollowsGod.

There really is no NEED to justify Moses' murder of the Egyptian.

It isn't that Moses was wrongfully accused, but rather that he DID create a terrible sin, and God forgave him, and God changed him, and God used him. God changed him and used him for great things IN SPITE OF HIS SIN.

If we try to justify the murder, or sweep it under the rug, we actually LOSE the meaning of the story.

If God could forgive Moses, and change him, and use him... then that is proof God can do the same with each of us. No matter what we've done, God can forgive us, and change us, and use us. If we try to remove Moses' sin from the story, we lose the meaning of the story.

When atheists say derogatory things about stories in the bible, we don't need to have a knee-jerk reaction. It's okay for us to relax, and stay calm, and think through the story intelligently. Don't let them throw you off guard with their attacks.

Yes, Moses was hot tempered. One of the reasons he struck the rock instead of speaking to it (he was angry) and was not able to enter the promise land.

At least he fulfilled the mission God purposed for his life - but that temper got the best of him in the end.

some churches have bible character reenactments. Imagine how Moses did what he did. Was his face angry? Were his fists clenched with anger? His eyes full of rage? Or did the humblest person on the planet have concern on his face for another person being beaten.

One thing I love about God's word is learning how God interacts and intervenes in the life of sinners, Moses included. You get to see their personalities, their flaws, their sins and everything....and you also get to see how God changes these fellow sinners as they turn towards Him. You get to see them evolve from new believers to mature Christians over the course of their lives....and all the pain the suffered in between in order to get there...to where God wanted them to be. Don't fret about Moses being a murderer. He didn't stay that way, for sure...and this gives hope for all of a lost humanity. :)
