And you still cannot show where the NT church ever used IM... you have to make up your own self imposed religion... so sad...

Neither can I show in the NT where it says I can use the internet.......I think they have a name for your condition....fortunately there is medicine for it, you just have to be committed to your recovery.
You see, I can show where the bible says you can use the internet :
Matthew 28:19 (KJV)
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
You see? He said "Go", you can go by plane, train, automobile, donkey even "online", what ever is expedient, as long as you don't change the doctrine.
Adding IM is changing the doctrine (unless you can show me where the NT Christians were told to "play" and not "sing"
Col 3:17
[SUP]17 [/SUP]And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
I believe 'whatever you do' also includes music.

Ephesians 5:19 "speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord.
Making melody comes from the Greek word "psollantes" which means to rub or touch or to twitch or twang.
I'm really quite impressed with mankinds propensity to make rules that don't exist.
Thats quite a stretch in your definition of the word go...because "going" by car or plane and "going" by internet aren't even in the same universe as to the meaning of the word go......if you wanna split hairs.
the bible authorized things like the internet, planes, trains, horses, donkeys etc... to "Go":
Matthew 28:19 (KJV)
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
but he did not authorize it for worship, nor did He authorize IM.

whatever you say there crazy person.....by the way...when you can go somewhere via the internet the same way you go there via car or plane you should tell someone about that.
Like "baptizo" does not define what one is baptized with and must be found in the context, so too does "Psallo" require the context to define the instrument of which its string is "rub or touch or twitch or twang"ed...
Paul said the instrument was the heart, it is the heart string that is twanged when all "sing" as commanded by Him.
one can "Go" all over the world teaching, making disciples with the internet, but you cannot "worship" Him with the internet.

My bad. it's the church of Christ denomination.
WHY DON’T YOU USE MUSIC IN YOUR WORSHIP?”
We do use music, but we don’t use musical instruments to accompany our singing. While many of our friends in other churches (even some Churches of Christ) use instruments, most of our congregations don’t for several simple reasons.
Early Christianity included two groups of people: Jews with a background of instrumental music (see Psalm 150) and pagan Gentiles who also worshipped with musical instruments. Yet when the church was established in about 33 A.D., those early Christians worshipped without such instruments.
According to Dr. F.W Mattox, a scholar of early church history, musical instruments weren’t used until the fifth century, and organ music didn’t become part of Christian worship until the eighth century. Even today the majority of Christian groups worldwide still sing without instruments, or acappella (literally meaning of the chapel or in the way of the church.)
So it seems logical, considering our goal of restoring a New Testament type Christian worship, that acappella singing would fit that model. Besides, the only musical instrument God ever created is the human voice; man created all the rest. Perhaps the purest form of musical worship on earth is found in human voices.

Now that your done being silly, the command is to "sing" not "play", it is to "one to another" it is to ALL, so what ever stringed instrument you think is authorized, all must learn to play, because you cannot worship for someone else.

"Whatever you do, do it as unto the Lord."
I worship Jesus when I run too....it doesn't say I can do that either. Your theology is pretty jacked up there Elizabeth Clair ....have fun with that but you're wasting your time and missing out. I go now to practice my songs for this weekend to lead His flock to the best of my ability. TTFN there crazy theology person.
i think whoever wrote this has obviously never heard the wind in the trees, the ocean waves crashing on the shore, the drone of millions of insects on a summer night, the songs of birds rejoicing at daybreak, the patter of rain or the tinkling of a crust of snow melting in the sun.
Why?, you can be sinful and stay home?
Practicing for your man made self imposed religion. So sad...
All creations of God, yet He never asked for any of those to be used in worship of Him?
you're one to talk about "man made self imposed religion" lol.
the scriptures:
"it is good to make music to the Lord"
Campbellites:
"it is not good to make music to the Lord"
the scriptures:
"all scripture is God-breathed and profitable for instruction and training in righteousness"
Campbellites:
"anything instructed or encouraged in the Old Testament is sinful to do unless the apostles specifically approve it"
That is not enough to authorize your self imposed man made religion.
What if someone doesn't like your instrumental music? who would be at fault?

4 [/SUP]You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. (Galatians 5:4)
i have been justified by the blood of Christ. i'm not seeking to be justified but rejoicing over the justification i have already received!
i don't need to "re-authorize" what has already been authorized and approved by God.
i'm not following a carnal law or giving anyone a command - i'm making a free-will offering of praise in a way that the scriptures authored by the Holy Spirit calls "good."
the only people giving out commands and seeking justification by a law in this thread are these ones adding a law to the word of God that is nowhere found in it, forbidding the ones made free in Christ to do the things that God has already approved.
