i met Carlos Santana once -- we talked for probably 20-30 minutes, at night around a campfire at woodstock '94, and i didn't even recognize who he was until after he'd said goodbye, which was when we finally got around to giving each other our names. someone had spotted me playing a drum and invited me over to a larger gathering, where they didn't have any music, and after i'd played for a while, he came up to me to chat about music, about crowds, about connecting with people, responding and interacting with them, about heart and spirit, and how all these things interrelate, & how kindness and charity fit into them.

Great story Posthuman.
Something to remember forever.

He's very spiritual. He has a picture of Jesus at all his concerts.
Not sure this is true anymore, but he used to.

You could tell how honest and sincere he is.
Saw him in concert at the Lucca Music Festival about 8 years ago.
We were right up front. In a Piazza, about 2, 3,000. Very small venue.
It was great!!

Yes I'll never forget - he explained to me how a musician has to listen to the audience as much as the audience listens because it's a conversation between them, not just one sided, heart talking to heart. I thought wow this guy really knows what he's talking about!

And he just said his name was Carlos, then someone came up and said do you know who that was??

So many newer artists just don't see things the same way.

Yes.

It's an Exchange of energy.

The audience gets energy from the performer

and the performer gets energy from the audience.

When performers say it was a great concert, this is what they mean: that they were fired up.
Ditto for the audience.

A converstaion.
A song of shared love.
