Many Psalms start with to the Chief musician....
Musical instruments were used in th OT including in the Psalms
The NT says Psalms were to be part of worship, presumably this included the musical
score and the traditional instruments of the time.
To assume musical instruments were not used and therefore shouldn't be used,
is like saying, the NT does not mention coffee, therefore it is sin to drink coffee,
or the NT does not mention antibiotics, therefore it is a sin to use antibiotics etc.
For all we know it may just have been the case that more emphasise was put on
the human voice due to a lack of musicians in the early church. Maybe the Jewish
temple musicians didn't want to lose their prestige by converting to Christianity.
I went to one church, where for a while there was no pianist and so we had only
the human voice. That wasn't out of choice it was just the way it was. Didn't sound
that great though, the songs often started off either too high or too low!
