Very true. But there are sins of omission as well as sins of commission, and as Scripture says "whatsoever is not of faith is sin".

Yes, the sin debt has been paid in full, but that does not mean that present sins cannot break the relationship of fellowship with God and with other believers. That is precisely what John addresses in his first epistle.
It is correct. If we still have any sins attributed to us, we will have to pay for them ourselves because Jesus isn't going to come back and shed more blood to pay for them. For without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins. (Hebrews 9:22)

Present sins which are not addressed as per Scripture will result in God having to deal with them.

Christ is our 'INTERCESSOR', for ANY 'sins' we may commit...

This has to do with a believer's walk. When we step out of walking in the light, we have "darkness" [sin] in us and we need to confess for forgiveness. You don't think it is necessary to ask forgiveness for sins you have committed since being born again . . . then don't.

Sorry Preston, didn't mean to snap at you, but I'm just tired of all the bickering and personal attacks here. I don't respond well to it, mostly because I let myself get sucked into it ... but I'm trying a different approach now and just asking people not to do it. You have a difference of opinion, I understand that and am more than willing to listen and consider. But start telling me what I do or don't need to do, and all that attendant stuff ... I'm just tired of it. Share your understanding, pray people give it consideration instead of target practice, and leave it up to the Holy Spirit as to what people do or do not need to do. Can we try that, people? All of us? I apologize to everyone here that I have engaged in with this type of behavior and ask your forgiveness. And maybe in repentance we can try and find a new path.
Wrong. 1 John 1 was written to unbelievers, the "you" he referred to in verse 3.
Paul Ellis points this out:
Verse 3 (John's audience, the "You" - unbelievers) They do not have fellowship with us as we have with God. They are alienated from the life of God. (Ephesians 4:18)
Christians: We have fellowship with Christ and all the members of His body (1 Corinthians 1:9, John 1:7)
Verse 5: (The "You" - unbelievers) They need to hear the message that that John has heard.
Christians: We have heard and believe the message. (Romans 10:17)
Verse 6 (The "You" - unbelievers) They walk in darkness. And do not live by the truth.
Christians: We walk in the light (John 8:12) We have met the truth and walk in the truth. (John 1:4, 14:6)
Verse 7: (The "You" - unbelievers) They need to be purified from all sin.
Christians: We have been purified from all sin. (Hebrews 10:10)
Verse 8: (The "You" - unbelievers) They are deceived.
Christians: We are filled with the Spirit of Truth. (John 14:7)
Verse 9: (The "You" - unbelievers) They need to be purified from all unrighteousness.
Christians: We have been made righteous. (1 Corinthians 6:11, Ephesians 1:7)
Verse 10: (The "You" - unbelievers) They are calling God a liar. God's word has no place in their lives.
Christians: We agree with God. (Romans 10:9-13) His word lives in us. (1 Thessalonians 2:13)

I agree 100% that God will chasten a wayward child for bad behavior, but He does not judge us as sinners. If He did, we would not be called "righteous", "holy", and "perfect".
We have the very righteousness of Jesus imputed to us. We are as sinless now as Jesus is. We are as holy as He is. If any sins are attributed to us, then the righteousness of Jesus is flawed.
By the one sacrifice of Jesus we have been made perfect forever. (Hebrews 10:12-14)
We cannot be perfect if we still have sins attributed to us.
Yes, even the accidental or hidden ones. He judges the intents of our hearts. If we say we have not sinned we make Him out to be the liar .Sinning is what sinners do daily. We live in a corrupted world. No one is walking on water.
If God was to take into account even the least and require payment (eternal separation) who could stand before Hid throne of Grace and receive mercy. We fear Him because with Him their is forgiveness . Without him no forgiveness. He forgives all even the secret ones.
Catholics will always think their sin can cause issues.....keeps em coming to the box to confess to the sinful man sitting inside the box with them.....if that does not work they can buy sin or pay to have one prayed into heaven...................and like I said....they keep JESUS perpetually nailed to the cross....................!!
AWWWW man come on....You know that JESUS is perpetually nailed to the cross and when he said it is FINISHED he actually meant that it was just beginning....................
AMEN....where sin abounds, grace did much more abound <---written unto believers.....of course most religions dismiss this so they can keep people bound down and under religious fanaticism.......
