So I was going to post this story in a response to help someone, but then I realized it would be better to post it as it’s own thread. The main person in here that needs prayer is my cousin’s son, but if you wish to, you can pray for my cousin, aunt, and me.
So this happened back in May, before I was doing therapy and antidepressants. We had my aunt and her son (Which is my cousin) come up to visit us, they also brought along my cousin’s son, he is 8 years old. The visit was going well enough until nighttime, my cousin’s son was starting to “soft cry”, he doesn’t throw tantrums but he just cries and whatnot. I wanna say he has a disability because he was perfectly fine earlier in the day, but then he just starts crying that “He wants to be at home” and he just doesn’t talk much. My mom says it’s the age, cause he is 8, and she might be right, cause I never really been around young children, only at my Pokémon league and my half-sister, who is 7 years old.
Some background details before I carry on, my cousin is not married to the woman who gave birth to his son, and as far as I remember, my cousin and the girl who gave birth to my cousin’s son do not love each other anymore and my cousin now has a new girlfriend. What this basically means is that it is my aunt’s duty to look after my cousin’s son, my cousin does father his own son, but from what I’ve seen/hear, his son mostly hangs out with my aunt, and the other family involved in this whole “out of wedlock child problem”, which is bad because my aunt is in her 50s, and just is too old to be looking after a child.
Anyway, back to the story, I was about to head to bed, it was midnight and I get a text from my aunt: “We are leaving, tell your mom I said bye”. So I head out there and see them packing up the car, about to try to do a 5 hour drive, at midnight, in deep county with tons of deer everywhere, and with the fact they didn’t get much sleep because they drove up within the same day earlier to be with us, all because my cousin’s son couldn’t stop crying and wanting to go home. It was probably because I didn’t like seeing aunt getting pushed around and having to force herself in danger to get my cousin’s son to be quiet. So I saw him sitting in the car and said: “You’re a piece of sh*t! Do you understand me? Never come back here!”
...Yes I know what I did was wrong, and it probably has effected me physiologically cause I’m pretty sure I shouldn’t be having children for a long while, but I never yell like that, I can usually keep my emotions in check but due to the stress this pandemic has caused and seeing my aunt in danger, I guess I needed to explode. But what happened next made me think, and sad. Apparently, all that needed to be done was to yell at my cousin’s son because he decided to stay and spend the night. Now I thought he would want to leave as soon as possible because I was boiling with rage, but he decided to stay...and if my yelling made him stay, that probably means he is treated the same way at his mother’s house, cause I know my aunt can’t really discipline anymore, her 3 kids are grownups and have their own lives.
So from what I heard he is going back to school about September, I don’t talk to my aunt much, but she did thank me for standing up for her. However, I don’t think he is being raised right or cared for right, he’s allowed to be into Five Nights at Freddie’s, something I’m sure no 8 year old or younger needs to be into...but at least he does like Minecraft. But yeah, my aunt and her family have been through a lot, as has my mom’s entire side of the family. My dad’s side of the family has been through stuff but my mom’s side is in a lot worse condition, I haven’t even talked to my Uncle (My Mom’s brother) in like I wanna say 12 years due to some family drama that happened, but yeah, please think of my cousin’s son, thanks.
