I can't understand how can you respect a person and at the same time disrespect that same person by telling him that he is wrong.

According to that logic God showed us disrespect by calling us sinners. Pointing out someones sins in an effort to encourage them to change for the better is not disrespect. If anything NOT saying something is a disrespect. There's nothing respectful in allowing someone to continue in sin. If you truly love and respect someone you WILL speak up to them.

Also, your 'other' definition of respect didn't change anything.

Its funny how you insist i need to learn the meanings of words, words i know better than you, as a native English speaker, i imagine, yet even when i prove myself, you still can't accept it. I gave you multiple definitions of respect and you still tried to tell me i was wrong. Even in the face of evidence you fight. Again, no respect given in the way you handle things.

With all love and respect, UGLY and CHUINCHOY, BEHAVE. This thread is not about you two, it is about a young girl who needs advice. Set your differences aside and try to look consider what she needs. And if you cannot do that, then do not respond to this thread.

I STRONGLY AGREE WITH YOU, VIOLAKAT. I PRAYED THAT THIS WOULD BE THE LAST CONFRONTATION FOR BOTH OF US. BELIEVE ME, I HATE TO DO THIS. ITS NOT LOVING AT ALL.
For one thing, caps are rude and annoying and does nothing positive to make your point.
Second, as long as i see unbiblical advice being given, then i will speak up.

I don't need to be scolded at like some child. You are not my mother.
I am fully considering what she needs, which is why i'm trying to spare her from the bad advice given.

Sounds to me, my opinion, that your dad has some guilt. And he thinks that by making your mom feel guilty for showing love towards an animal...that will somehow make him look better. If he has issues with porn, and obsession with cars..Making her feel bad for having an attachment to something, in his mind, will make him not feel as bad about his problems. Bottom line, no husband should do that to his wife. That's mean. He needs a wake up call. And hopefully God wakes him up before he loses his family. If my husband told me to get rid of my dog, I'd tell him to leave. (but my husband would never do that to me. He shares my love for little furry animals.) Animals are one of God's treasures. I believe he made them for us to enjoy. They are such great companions. I'm sorry for your troubles. I'll pray for you and your family.
