my last argument for obedience

Hi Jasonj, I live in Oceana County in Michigan. It's an agricultural area. Right now, the peach trees are beginning to flower, however the apple trees look dead-but they aren't. It's just not thier season right now.

The asparagus is sprouting, the corn looks dead but it's not, It needs a more sun and next month it will be sprouting.

People are the same, each in thier own season.

If one of your trees was barren and you wanted fruit, fertilized it and it just diodnt produce anything, or it produced poison fruit....would you leave the tree among the others?or maybe plant another tree that will yield fruit for you? its always the season to accept the truth of Christ

For some reason, though, the thought of obeying the words of Christ strikes terror into the followers of the gospel of lawless grace. IMHO

Obeying the words of Christ enables one to love the unloveable and shouldn't strike terror into anyone.

Is the concern for the fruit or the tree??????

If one is concerned with profitibilty by all means cut the tree.

If one is concerned with the health and growth of the tree- more care is to be taken of it.

An orange tree is still an orange tree even though it doesn't produce the fruit we want to see in the timeframe we think it should. What happens if this orange tree dies before it has had a chance to be fed properly to grow up to be able to produce the fruit of a ripe orange?

To some works-based people - you would have to display 50 oranges in order to prove you are a real orange tree ( saved ) - to others you need 100 oranges in order to be a proved orange tree. ( saved ) So, this fruit inspection thing is not viable ..that's for God to look at people to determine if they are in Christ or not.

A person could have love and kindness as a fruit in their life but be addicted to some pills or alcohol which they are continuing to struggle with in their life. The people that don't have a struggle with alcohol will condemn the ones that do and declare they don't have the fruit and thus are not saved. This is Pharisee-ism at it's finest.

Does the orange tree stop being an orange tree even though it dies without having fruit that we think "proves" it was an orange tree to begin with?

What if Christians were like that? What if we fed them messages about the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness in Christ so that they could grow? Then they would produce an abundance of fruit.

I say let's preach and teach the grace of Christ in their lives so that they have the proper nutrients to grow up in Him!

I find it hypocritical that Pharisee is even used to name call another Christian for speaking the truth of Jesus own words. Pharisees denied Jesus, Loved Money would never have followed His teachings, would never be found saying the message "obey Jesus Christs words" lol phjarisee ism I guess is preaching obedience to Christ? id say if you want to identify a Pharisee, or someone trying to be saved by Law. here are a few ids for you. they Loved money, they refused to believe and follow Jesus, they thought following MOSES law was the way, they controlled the people, with a dead Law......the sneered at Jesus, hated Him.....plotted to Kill Him. Pharisee would never even acknowledge that obeying Jesus is the way so find the Pharisee. and also look for the disciple of Jesus Christ who are followers of His teachings, and despised because of it, its really a blessing tho. you should define according to what the gospel of Jesus says, not the popular worldly stuff.

It is so strange...to the works-based salvationists ...it's like God is looking for ways to keep people from not being with Him when He did everything in His Son to prove the exact opposite. Christ said "it is finished" ..accept what He has done. Let's believe in Him.

Let's believe the gospel and not be in disobedience to trust in Christ's work for us.

They just haven't come to the full knowledge of grace yet, they have good foundation, just have to accept the word that Grace provided for us to Live as free children of God, who desire to Know Jesus personally by living His ways and being conformed......Grace is very important, I fear the issue is the doctrines so widely accepted that Lack any for m of obedience. My Mom Loves Joseph prince, and He is encouraging and insightful. I pray one day He will set His heart to teaching obedience by Grace, rather than leaving out the meat and truth of it. Its not popular to speak Gods truth, ive experienced it for years and actually have come to enjoy the opposition in a goos calm peaceful spirit. can never be wrong if your the one saying Obey Jesus..... there is peace in that for sure

Obey Jesus, cant fail God bless I cant continue this lol peace and no hard feelings....honestly grace is true, theres far more to it. the scruipture in 2 john in the op is a kind of plain and straight forward thing concerning the teachings of Jesus and that being our Life. I guess people need to reconcile that in their heart or just deny what Gods word actually sayd because they fear the obedience and all it demands of the old pleasures of sin. but sin is ugly, it slaughtered Jesus. I will always strive with every fiber of myself to not be found a servant to it. the only way that's possible is to live as Jesus commands, that's the power of our protection against evil, to remain IN Him, His teachings. His words really are clear and I think most of you guys understand it, jusy need some time to let it root a bit. No offense to any of yas, God Loves you abundantly.

who is the faithful wise servant whose master returns and finds Him doing the things he was commanded to do? He tells us the truth ! He the Lord will dress to serve those good faithful servants." Jesus words are the place to dwell. not only pauls or pastor Princes words........each DAY if anyone will learn one thing He teaches and apply it to their Lives, their eyes will begin to open. its a fact give it a month and notice the change but commit to learning it as if it is Gods command, because it is regardless that we are saved By grace, were still commanded to follow and the thing is NOW we no longer have an excuse not to follow, God made us able......think of Grace from That perspective. more obligated than EVER as Jesus suffered for it. Grace is immeasurable suffering and pain on the One you Love and claim, its the ability to Live again, but for Him, Grace to you meant shame, and indignity, beating, they spit on Jesus friend, for your shame and My shame, look what Grace costs Jesus Christ.

Is there any real reason to not commit our Lives to doing what He says? having been made new? just accept the true word and it will work. its Jesus promise His word. Grace is the highest obligation, Love the Highest Law.

amen, I get your point before tho, were all at different places ect. at any stage it is beneficial to follw jesus. and always beneficial to Hear the truth..... even if we only know a little, we are to be faithful to that Little we know is right. God bless.

yeah...that is how I see it

a tree planted by water always has to have the water...right? ...and we all know that water is also a metaphor for the Holy Spirit...streams of 'living waters'

the Bible fits together really well...(understatement)...but all 66 books...not pulling out a phrase that we think backs up what we are trying to push...(generic we)

I'm positive Jesus does not want us calling anyone a pharisee...BTW, wasn't Paul a pharisee?

the problem is Christians poking into the hearts of other Christians...I don't think you are trying to do that here, but I do think there is some misunderstanding going on..on both sides somewhat
