I am ready to scream or cry or both right now. I just had a 2 hour meeting with my boss and assistant today. We had a swimming day yesterday. I forgot the keys... big oops! He didn't bother buying the lunch for the kids. I find out today that even though he knew and even though I had told him about bringing lunch on pool days, he was waiting for me to initiate. No he was waiting for me to remind him of what he already knew.
We have been having communication issues for a few months. We have been slowly working to get better. The other day I was sort of pushed into writing him up. I should have addressed it earlier, but the fact is I didn't and had I had it my way I would have at least warned him that it could happen before I did it. His answer to everything was that it was my fault. It was my fault for not saying it ten times. Yes, I will agree that I could have said it more, but I trusted that when I said it he was going to follow through. Apparently, he didn't understand some things... My fault again... I can take blame for that also.
I don't feel like I can trust him. I am his supervisor, but he held my position for a year and a half before I was here. He DOES know more than I do. I guess I have to boss him around, but that is not my personality at all... I guess I have to make it. Yesterday I was left at a pool with 10 kids, 3 of which couldn't swim. He did have to leave, but he disappeared with my two interns too. I found out today that a parent pooled our youngest student out of the pool when he decided to jump in without his lifevest. Unless I blacked out, there is no way that it happened while I was alone. I was no farther than 10 feet from all three boys while I was the only one there. When my assistant came, I told him who couldn't swim and stepped back a little. I was still within a safe distance. After about an hour, I began making sandwiches for their lunch. No one mentioned any problem with the student. The parent never said anything. The students were silent and my assistant never said a word. I feel like I"m being sabotaged.
Pray for these:
1) This parent is constantly complaining about one thing or another. I am not so sure the situation was completely as she says it was. She does ever speak to us. She goes directly to the CEO, all the while, smiling a friendly smile as if nothings wrong.
2) My assistant is being passive. I am new to the job and I feel like when things are raised I am fairly quick to start addressing them. But he just wants to act like a child and see how much trouble I can get myself into.
