Hi everyone!
As my username suggests I am a "new christian". This is true in that I truly started believing in God quite recently, but in a way false since I've in some sense felt like there is something there since a was small, and that something was God.
I will share with you how I came to know that God is with me. I live in Sweden were people generally dislike belief systems and shun people who believe (not all, but it happens more than it should). Even though I didn't was an atheist, I was more of an spiritual agnostic, if that's a thing, I talked and argued like an athiest. That is the simplest way to get along with people here, generally.
After many years of repressing my own thoughts and feelings about God and religion I watched some vidoes online of people who converted from other religons or became "born again". One video in particular intrigued me, it was about a muslim man who came to the US from the Middle East. He had learned in his home country that christians were his enemy, so he expected that the christians he met would be mean, rude or even hostile. But to his suprise they were nothing but friendly to him, they helped him when he needed and invited him to share meals with them. This was shocking to the man, so wondered if his believes were wrong. He asked his god "Give me a sign and I will believe in you!". Nothing happend. He took a deep breath and asked Jesus "Are you the son of God? If so give me a sign." A strange, warm energy filled him from top to toe, he began to cry, and from then on he denounced his former faith and became a christian.
Ok, this is a longer introduction than I usually do but if you're still with me, I am almost done
So after seeing this video I thought, in my trained athiest way, "There is no way that happend. I will prove this doesn't work by asking to same exact question." I thought that if I am going to ask I will have to do it in genuine way. I turned off my computer, calmed down, and then I sat down on my knees on the bed. I cleared my head, clasped my hands in praying position and asked Jesus "Are you the son of God? If so give me a sign." I expected nothing. But to my suprise, like the man in the video described it, a warm, strange, indescribable feeling rushed through my body, from head to toe. I was shocked over this event, I couldn't believe it had happend. I tried to reason it away, but I couldn't, and therefore I am a "new christian".
That is a shortened version of my story. I hope you were with me all the way. I am on this site to talk about my new found faith, because it's hard to talk about it over here in Sweden.
Oh, I'm sorry I almost forgot. My name is Martin.
