Just thought I would add this one to the list of conspiracies in the conspiracy forum.
The rumor is that december 21 2014 there will be a solar storm that will cause three to six days of darkness on the entire earth. This is a rumor taken from december 2012 when it was predicted that the world was going to end there would be darkness and unfortunately it was revised and posted on a news article and spread like wild fire.

In actuality Nasa denies ever having such info and yet even though the hoax has been debunked many still anticipate this coming december. Now I have a few things to say. First is that even if this rumor was true I highly doubt nasa or the news would tell us as the last thing they want is world wide panic. Second I admit that a solar storm has the potential if large enough to cause such darkness blocking out the sun and cutting our power, however considering this rumor was based off another rumor that epically failed it does not help the credit of the rumor for this year

If NASA says they never said it,
and there's no evidence they ever DID say it,
and YOU even refer to it as a HOAX...

How can we have a post titled "NASA CONFIRMS..." ????

NASA didn't confirm ANYTHING.

I think your missing the point, the rumor is that nasa confirmed this event so what was I supposed to call it? Was this even an honest post or just to nit pick?

Blain,

I think I would have just used a title that was more accurate.

If there is nothing more than a "rumor" that NASA confirmed something,
you could have said, "Rumor that NASA CONFIRMS..." etc.

What you actually posted was more like a statement of known actual fact.

But no big deal, this isn't the New York Times, it's just a forum where people chat.
: )

NASA is too busy giving away our rocketry science to the Muslim world on Obama's orders to be concerned with solar storms and whatnot.

"When I became the NASA administrator, [Obama] charged me with three things," NASA head Charles Bolden said in a recent interview with the Middle Eastern news network al-Jazeera. "...he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math, and engineering."

NASA's new mission: Building ties to Muslim world | Nation | San Francisco | San Francisco Examiner

^ Seriously, Muslims only want rocketry science for one thing. Take this quiz to see if you guess the correct answer.

1. Muslims want rocketry science to spread world peace and help the sea manatee.
2. Muslims want rocketry science to boost their self-image.
3. Muslims want rocketry science to build rockets to blow non-Muslims up.

Hint: It's number 3.

This was posted on recently already and confirmed as a hoax. Not that it really needs to be. If it were true it would be all over every new organization in the world.

But trying to hijack the thread into some anti-muslim thread is sad.

Actually I kind of like aok input as he used to work for nasa. But do you honestly believe that the news would tell us if such an event was going to happen? Do you recall what happened in 2012? there was mass mayhem in the united states, ppl were freaking out storing up all food and supplies and there were robberies to get what they needed and this was just from a rumor. Now imagine how much worse it would be if the news were to tell everyone this would happen? The high up ppl simply would not allow it they are not that stupid, they believe that for global peace many have to be left in the dark. Half the stuff on the news already is either stuff we already know or just a bunch of side distractions to distract us from the real story.

Now I am not a conspiracy theorist I just know how this stuff goes down. Trust me if such an event were to happen it would not be in the news

Every major news outlet carried the story and Charles Bolden NASA's administrator stated it in his own words. Only AFTER the criticism began did Bolden, Obama, and NASA begin denying it even they continued to do exactly what they had originally said not to mention Obama also embedding Muslims in his administration and creating a State Department outreach while offering taxpayer funding to a Muslim technology fund to help Muslim nations which they can use to increase their weapons systems.

Your emotional whining is immaterial to me. I care about real conspiracies even if you don't.

Emotional whining. Might try looking up words and learn what they mean before using them. Since neither of them applies to what i said. But, then again, i would expect personal attacks and twisting others words from you. Seems to be the norm.

And, the first time i heard about it was on here, after it had already been debunked. So...

At any rate, if your idea of a valid response is lies and insults, to add to your thread hijacking, then the easy way for me to not see you is to make use, once again, of the ignore feature. Will make things more pleasant around here.

solar storms don't bock the light of the sun, so...

a little actual knowledge can go a long way.

Neat article. I might fight with you two later since that's what you want but right now I just don't care enough to. Perhaps if you keep it up, you might raise my interest level enough though. In the meanwhile, moving along...

"The Three Days of Darkness is an eschatological prophecy (based on private revelation) within Roman Catholicism. Adherents of the Three Days of Darkness are usually traditionalist Catholics or sedevacantists. The latter group hopes that a "true pope" will be miraculously designated by an apparition of Saint Peter and Saint Paul; this tangential belief assumes that the most recent pontiffs of the Church are in fact "antipopes". There is also controversy over whether the twentieth-century saint and stigmatist Saint Pio endorsed and taught on the future Three Days of Darkness as the authenticity of the alleged words of Saint Pio are disputed."

I agree with this post of yours. Astronomical ignorance is definitely the problem with this topic.
thanks, seems the most topical. i don't know why i didn't put something like this right away =p

here's a planetary-engineering idea that's been around at least a decade, that NASA has been funding research into, which would actually block some sunlight in an effort to manage global warming:

Space-based Sun-shade Concept a Bright Idea

i don't think something like this would pass public opinion very well, but it's interesting if only for it's scope.
