The meaning of what Jesus said is gentiles against gentiles, any time you see the word nation he is speaking of gentiles. In speaking of things to come in the tribulation by the fourth seal, more than 25% of the world would be killed, that is 1.75 billion people from a world population of 7 billion.. More than 7 times the number killed in WW2. Jesus spoke of this in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21.

Most of the events listed in Matthew, Mark and Luke are directed at Israel, but nation against nation and kingdom against kingdom is not. Israel will be protected by this antichrist to come as well as the countries around the Mediterranean Sea. This is the location of the 10 kingdoms who are to come, the ten toes from the old Roman empire.
