need some help/advice!

This past summer, i've been helping out at home a lot due to the fact that my family has six kids and my parents are both forced to have jobs out of the home. They cannot afford a babysitter for my five younger siblings, so whenever I am not working, I watch the kids for them. Well, when i take them to parks or shopping with me, or wherever i decide to go, I constantly am getting dirty looks from Moms or people around us. It's like they automatically assume I am a young, unmarried mother!!(Despite being 18 and having five siblings around me! How can i avoid this??

You’re probably worrying about something you don’t have to worry about. You might wear a ring on your ring finger, leading people to believe you are married.
 
I don't think there is a way to avoid it because there will always be people that assume things based on the current setting.


People often find it more probable that you're a "young unmarried mom" opposed to a caring sister.


Based on what you're dealing with, just imagine how actual young unmarried moms (or unmarried moms in general) feel.


The only advise I have is DON'T take it to heart and don't curse them for their ignorance.


I know I'd rather be the best sister possible for my little brother and a despised young lady (society assuming I'm his mom) than a "shining beacon for our generation" (society assuming I'm not his mom) (but there is nothing wrong with it otherwise) and a detached sister and daughter.


What you are doing for your siblings and parents is a good thing.


Things can always be worse.

Hold you head high. You have nothing to be ashamed of.
 
They're probably just jealous of how well behaved your younger siblings are. :D
