A few months ago I saw a YouTube video from last year where a girl responded to the famous fat shaming video where so many got offended. During the video response she said, the fat shaming and intentionally trying to offend someone is not okay and it's wrong. However the main point of her video was that people shouldn't let others offend them. If someone offends you by making fun of your appearance or personality, if you get offended or hurt that is because you deep down believe what that person was saying. That video impacted me because she she was right, you have to accept yourself for who you are. You have to love yourself, love your flaws (know you have them but know if you can fix them then do it) and if you do that then you will never care what anyone ever says about you.
You have to accept yourself for who you are and therefore no words can ever hurt you. All that can be done with prayer, God, and self reflection. She uses the example that if you want to lose weight, don't have the mentality that you will love yourself once you lose weight. Love yourself now in order to make the effort to lose weight. Don't do it because you were shamed into doing it. Do it because you love yourself to get better. That is why we need God in our lives because with him we'll have an identity and will always love ourselves because he loves us.
