Columbus Day has been a federal observance since FDR's 1937 proclamation and has sat on the second Monday of October since the Uniform Monday Holiday Act took effect in 1971. In 2021, Joe Biden became the first president to also proclaim "Indigenous Peoples' Day" on the very same date, and the dueling-holiday confusion stuck for four years.

#News Two Maricopa County Board of Supervisors election employees were caught inside the Ballot Tabulation Center at 10:30 p.m., inserting flash drives into computers on the first day of early voting for the November 3 election.
The video was posted by We Are The People Alliance.

Republicans say Maricopa County is now in damage control, claiming the employees were just 'finishing up work' before the weekend, however, they point out that their actions came after Logic and Accuracy testing.
Former Gubernatorial and Senate candidate Kari Lake saying,
"My source tells me:
“This is the same duo that scraped 650,000 voters off the election server a few years ago. He admitted the crime to the FBI.
Our AG refused to prosecute. The fact that they are still employed by the county is beyond my ability to fathom.”

The footage shows the pair in the Ballot Tabulation Center (BTC) room that houses the EMS server and adjudication terminals.

The employees left their day shift at 6:23 p.m., returned at 9:08 p.m., and stayed until about 11:15 p.m.

They identify one as Brian Ramirez and say both are hired and supervised by Elections Director Scott Jarrett under the Board of Supervisors, not the Recorder’s office.

The post notes that the BTC equipment is subject to Logic and Accuracy testing and should not be altered afterward; Arizona law treats unauthorized modification of certified voting equipment as a class 5 felony.

Maricopa County Supervisor Mark Stewart’s statement indicated that the County Manager confirmed the employees’ status and the dual-access procedure. He said their activity was routine completion of work.
Maricopa county - which is home to about 2.5 million registered voters - is marred with issues and irregularities

The Board of Supervisors and Recorder Justin Heap have spent months in litigation and mediation over which office controls different election functions, IT systems, and personnel.

Past disputes include the 2020 Cyber Ninjas review (which alleged deleted files and other irregularities that county officials rejected or said were recovered),

Printer and tabulator problems in 2022, and

A June 2026 incident in which a Recorder’s office employee removed a scanner from the facility, prompting an internal review and $70,000 replacement cost.
Election-integrity advocates, including Lake, say the late-night activity is another red flag.

County officials say that the employees were following established procedures on equipment that is not internet-connected.
They have not released the specific work logs, badge records, or media serial numbers for the night in question.
Whether the flash-drive activity involved routine data movement, software updates, or something else has not been detailed by the county beyond the general statement that work was being finished.

CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten says voter registration data in four swing states favors Republicans ahead of November's midterms, running counter to polling that shows Democrats ahead. It is my contention that it is the duty and responsibility of every Christian to vote and to vote for leaders who promote Christian principles. God is most certainly in control, but that does not mean we should do nothing to further His will. We are commanded to pray for our leaders (1 Timothy 2:1-4). In terms of politics and leadership, there is evidence in Scripture that God has been displeased with our choices of leadership at times (Hosea 8:4). The evidence of sin’s grip on this world is everywhere. Much of the suffering on earth is because of godless leadership (Proverbs 28:12). Scripture gives Christians instructions to obey legitimate authority unless it contradicts the Lord’s commands (Acts 5:27-29; Romans 13:1-7). As born-again believers, we ought to strive to choose leaders who will be themselves led by our Creator (1 Samuel 12:13-25). Candidates or proposals that violate the Bible’s commands for life, family, marriage, or faith should never be supported (Proverbs 14:34). Christians should vote as led through prayer and study of both God’s Word and the realities of the choices on the ballot.
Christians in many countries in this world are oppressed and persecuted. They suffer under governments that they are powerless to change and governments that hate their faith and silence their voices. These believers preach the gospel of Jesus Christ at the risk of their own lives. In the U.S.A., Christians have been blessed with the right to speak about and choose their leaders without fearing for themselves or their families. In the U.S.A., in recent elections, about 2 of every 5 of self-professed Christians took that right for granted and did not vote. About 1 in 5 self-professed, eligible Christians are not even registered to vote.
In our day and age, there are many who want to drive the name and message of Christ completely out of the public arena. Voting is an opportunity to promote, protect, and preserve godly government. He’s not stopping at money. Rezaei claims Tehran rejected Washington’s latest offer on reopening the Strait of Hormuz as “𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞,” and insists the waterway itself — a fifth of the world’s oil and gas traffic — stays under Iran’s thumb unless the U.S. meets seven conditions first.

Ethical Hacking​

"Fridges in hundreds of French supermarkets heated up to 50°C in one night. The food went in the bin. The attackers never set foot inside. The cooling controls were online, with holes public since 2023.
The heating started on Sunday night, October 11. In some stores it began before midnight. Across France, the systems that keep supermarket fridges cold switched on their defrost function and left it running.
Defrosting is a normal part of how a commercial fridge works. Ice builds up inside, so from time to time the unit warms up to melt it and then goes back to cooling. In these stores, that normally adds up to about two hours a day. That night it did not stop. The defrost kept running, and the temperature in display cases and cold rooms kept climbing. One of the chains says the attackers pushed the temperature controls to 50°C, which is 122°F.
Some units ran hot for six hours before staff noticed. In the stores where it started before midnight, the fresh and frozen food had been sitting in that heat for hours by the time the first employees came in. It all had to be thrown out. The Paris prosecutor's office spoke of a large-scale attack on connected fridges at several big chains, and said it caused food losses and fires.
The chains gave their own numbers. Intermarché counted about 150 of its stores. Thierry Cotillard, head of the group behind it, estimated the losses at tens of millions of euros across the country after a single morning of crisis management. Carrefour said 80 of its supermarkets were hit. Monoprix put it at about 5 percent of its roughly 490 stores. Around 100 stores of Coopérative U, the group behind Super U, Hyper U and U Express, were affected, and its head called the attack "of extreme gravity" and "unprecedented". Leclerc stores were hit as well.
One store in Alsace lost more than 200,000 euros in food.
Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu ordered ANSSI, the French national cybersecurity agency, to investigate. France is coordinating with other European countries, because they could be affected too. A threat analyst at the security company Sekoia named Spain, Portugal, Poland, Germany and Belgium as possibly affected, and other reports add the Netherlands to that list..."


"1,008 GB in 10 days from one coffee maker on a home network. 100 times what it took in. It only had to make coffee. Keurig's policy says these brewers have a camera inside, and has since 2020.
On October 6, a man who goes by Nomad on X opened the network dashboard he keeps for his parents' house. He has worked in IT for more than ten years and now works at Prusa, the 3D printer maker. He looks after their network from a distance, and the system he uses for that, UniFi, shows how much data each device in the house sends and receives.
One line stood out. A device called Keurig-20CE2A28C5CE, the Keurig K-Supreme SMART his parents own. In 10 days and 9 hours it had sent 1,008.45 GB and received 9.94 GB.
Received is what comes in, like a film, an update or a web page. Sent is what a device pushes out. This coffee maker sent about a hundred times more than it received. That is about 97 GB a day, or roughly 9 megabits per second, day and night, from a machine that makes coffee.
He unplugged it, posted the screenshot and said his parents were getting a new coffee maker. The post passed 2.4 million views.
Later that day he looked closer. Most of that traffic never left the house. It went onto the home network and not out to the internet, and he thinks it was a bug in that one unit. It still filled up the WiFi access point the coffee maker was connected to, the box that the wireless devices in the house talk to.
The brewer already sat on a separate network for smart devices, often called an IoT network, apart from the laptops and phones. He thought about capturing its packets to see what was inside them, but chose to keep it offline. A device that can flood a network like that, he wrote, is not worth keeping connected.
Keurig had not responded in public by the time of writing. He never captured that traffic, so what was inside the terabyte is still unknown.
Keurig's privacy policy, in effect since February 13, 2026, spells out what the coffee maker is built to collect. It covers the company's website and app, and also what it calls its Internet connected devices, the smart brewers.
For those brewers, Keurig collects your usage history: which drink, what size and how strong. Then comes this sentence:
"These brewers also include a camera designed to collect an image of the area where a pod is positioned within the brewer."
According to the policy, some connected features need that camera. Keurig may also use it for diagnostics, to check that the brewer works properly.
The same part of the policy lists what Keurig picks up from the device you use for its services. Your IP address, a device ID, advertising IDs, your operating system, its software version and your time zone are in there. So is information about your wireless and mobile connection, like your service provider and how strong your signal is."
