What do you think of a emoji that would mean "I praise God for this!" or "" praise the Lord!" like instead of a smiley or a a liked ect.?

Hey, why not keep the smiley face and the "liked" thumbs up and add another emoji for PTL? That way we've gott'm all :)

I also wish there was one that we could add for ~prayers~ as an easier way to let people know that we are praying for them and for their needs/concerns without replying to them with another post. I think this would be especially useful on the Prayer Requests board.

My mistake I should not have said instead but in addition to or like those. I like what you suggested too!

Agree!
Great idea Deut. Likely would be praying hands "Praying".
There was one or two more that I thought of over time, but I was told that it's very hard to add new content, so I forgot them.

Suggestions on this site are rather pointless. I don't rememeber the last time one was put to use. New emojis have been requested for years.
And chances are the current ones are from a pre-existing list built into the software the forum is built on, which makes customization not possible.

An option for users is to be a little bit more complicated in how you get your message across.

Like if you were posting on a thread but just wanted to leave a "thankful" emoticon you "could" (if you were already responding to something else in the thread) leave feedback to another user by saying

Thanks @soandso for your post (#461) it really blessed me.

and add emoticons if you wanted to instead of quoting them.

It's clunky but I think if this became more practiced by other users, it could become more fluid.

Oh, I myself want a confused emoticon and a thankful emoticon.

I almost feel that "praise" emoticons or "prayer" could be seriously abused by trolls and the "friendly" reaction seems to say enough of those things. I'm pretty sure that not everyone even feels touched by reactions and perhaps a few words @anonposter672 (insert whomever) or {quote user yyy} ... {/quote} might go much farther for some.

I've seen @Magenta use smileys in her posts that are a bit more "descriptive" so perhaps she will share her system and give some feedback? No pressure ;)

Hello Mii :) The emoticons available to include as part of a post are different from those that are given as a reaction ;) For instance, can you imagine if this emoticon was in the reactions' selections? :poop: LOLOLOLOLOLOL :unsure::whistle::giggle::cool:

Some people use the green check mark as an "Amen" :geek: They usually announce it a few times, so people who are familiar with that person know when they get a green check mark what is stands for :)

Ok so in order to use this "consternation", "err", "umm"...or even mayyybe just thinking as "hmm" I would have to save the picture and insert it into my post as you have done?

I don't "disagree" with your assessment of the agree reaction ;)

Mid post I figured it out lol. Since I just typed wink face I was like wait...there must be some text way to do this. For maybe the second time I see the smiley faces you can insert into a post. Amazing.

I suppose this is because I've been using 0.0 -.- :):( =) :p =p for a considerable amount of time online and most of the time it's just in text form but understood. Hardly noticed

But a thankful emoticon is not there alas. I'm not sure what you'd even use besides a turkey and that's American. Could there potentially be an emoticon that shows thanksgiving? I digress.

Well there's 30 or so to use in addition. I learned something new today ha.

Good morning, Mii :) Are you using a phone? I ask because on my laptop, every time I am composing a post, there is a selection of icons above the message box, one of which is the smilies emoticons. Here is what is available:

Yeah for whatever reason I hardly notice it. The only thing I ever use in the bar is making font super small to denote "small tidbit" and rarely if ever.

I have used bold italics underline using shortcuts for some time and that's standard so I didn't realize there was so much to insert to be frank lol.

:coffee: sounds good ;)

Yes, I use the keyboard shortcuts for bold, Italic, and underline also :) And sometimes make font smaller or larger: larger to emphasize something/make it stand out more, or smaller as a bit of an add-on note to my post... sometimes I even make font invisible, for instance, when I post just one of my panels as a response, I will put the verse citation underneath it in white font :D The citation is almost always on the panel itself, but I type it out as well so that if I am looking for that post in my recent history, I can easily find it. I was once falsely accused of hiding a source by putting it in white and making the font small, but, the person was wrong, because although I had shrunk the text, it was still visible, though lightened. Along the same line of thought (of being criticized by someone who has it out for me), I was basically accused of being immature simply because I make use of the emoticons in my messages :rolleyes: It is kind of ridiculous the depths to which people will stoop. Just yesterday someone falsely accused me of saying something I did not, and rather than owning up to it, tried to use my predilection for the color purple against me instead :giggle::devilish::giggle:

Coffee was good :D So was my three and a half hour nap earlier :):giggle:

I hope this message finds you well :)

COOL! Well Well...I have not thought to type in white since I was using a shared computer as a child. Definitely didn't expect to think about that today lol.

Could be quite productive for some things thanks.

Well, I'm fine now. Lately things have been a bit rough but I had a nice fire the last two nights and the weather change and some hammocking has been good for me.

At first I found your color text more difficult to read but then I got used to it. My mother writes with many different colored pens and that's her thing. It's not "hard" to read really just different and that's what makes it difficult at first, but I like the personality when people do something different. Now if someone were (edit: typo) doing something super ambitious and changing each individual letter or word? That might be excessive. Although I am still amazed that for whatever reason this hasn't really crossed my mind.

The only thing I really do different is lots of ellipses lol. Perhaps I'll do some "branching out"

Oh cool, you can write in typewriter font. I'll admit this has been an unexpectedly fun thread. The only thing is it seems like it might be distracting on some level but I do rather like this font. Times new roman isn't really that much different. Can't believe I've been using arial for so long I got desensitized to it

These giant bold letters that people use in posts and randomly inserting reds is a bit much though. Maybe just them I guess.

That was pretty clever starting your message with invisible font :giggle: It actually isn't completely invisible because the board itself is not hex code #000000. I am sorry to hear that things have been a bit rough for you, but glad to know you found a bit of respite with the weather change and some hammocking. Do you have a bad back? Excessive heat doesn't do me any favors either. In fact I often have a fan going, though not much recently.

Would my text be easier to read in this darker shade of purple? I usually use this shade for Scripture verses in my post, but you can actually use any hex color code, and not just the ones provided, so it may be something I could do to find another color with an easy code to remember for Scripture. Sometimes I put the words of Jesus in a different color from the surrounding verse, using code ab12ab, because it's easy to remember, and also in a similar color spectrum.

I'm not actually not sure what you mean by ellipses

I am curious to know how to pronounce your user name :D

Yeah I noticed if I look full on at it I can't see it, but if the screen is tilted then I can see a something like a shadowy white.

No your text is fine for me to read now, it's not super bright or anything...I guess it was just the difference between black that too my brain some adjustment but it isn't something crazy like writing in yellow all the time or something ha. Actually I don't think there are any colors that are "super hard" to read. It's been kind of a long time though so it's hard to remember. It may have been you or somebody else, but I would highlight their posts to read.

There's also color inversion mode if you have a PC it's pretty cool to try every so often. Probably something on a phone too since it's a PC essentially.

I think line breaks are the most effective to reading someone's text. Leastways it helps me a bit but I do this naturally so it may also be bias ;)

My back is fine most of the time. I also avoid lifting heavy things most of the time, but I've been considering getting a brace because one of the best defenses to back pain is a strong back not a "tip toe and hope nothing bad happens" weak one. A brace can help with lifting technique and even though I follow the suggestions (legs not back) it still makes me paranoid alas.

I'm not actually not sure what you mean by ellipses
Just that I use "..." more than I've seen anyone else use it... ;)
Probably just typing laziness but I often leave out closings to some statements or ideas and it serves as a *trails off* or *jumps to new idea* or puts forward "pause" better than a period does. If someone is reading a ... aloud they typically take a longer pause than a period. Paragraphs do that too, but I don't use the indentations and clearly concentrated paragraphs often.

I am curious to know how to pronounce your user name :D
I pronounce it Me. Miis are avatars on the wii and I pilot this flesh tent around so it works.

Me has a story behind it, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to tell it ha.

Oh, okay, that is fine, and one of the reasons I asked (I did think it may be pronounced that way, as "Me") is because I was thinking about -and then actually went ahead and did :D - making a panel for you :giggle: It was just a fun thing for me to do and an indication that my energy levels are improving bit by bit following my surgery last month

Also I meant to correct calling white hex code #000000, as that is black :oops::LOL:
White is #FFFFFF; I didn't want to make a post just for that ;)

Backs can be tricky at times, that is for sure. Wearing a brace sounds like a good idea if you think you may need it :) I was in chiropractic care for many years following what seemed like a small thing - torquing slightly when a car suddenly braked, and feeling a bit of a pinch pinch in my back. Turns out that action caused a rib to twist out of my spine, and by the next morning I could not move. If that happened in 1980 (it was around that time) it probably took a good ten years at least for me to more fully recover from it, though even as late as 2000 when I was whip lashed, it stirred up that old injury. Prolonged bad posture (such as leaning forward on one elbow while at my desk when using my old desk-top computer) was discovered to be problematic too :geek:

Here is the little panel I made for you :) You don't have to do anything with it, but it is now yours :D

This is actually how I keep things separated in my mind/heart. You can also be spelled Ewe which is a sheep if I'm not mistaken. Ty so much that's awesome! I think I may print that and put it in a book...

Someday I hope to find a "She" also :)

I have a few other personal pronouns I use for/with the Lord that are equally child-like (and one rhymes) but the simplicity helps me. Plus I get bored with the word "Lord" all the time in private...different moods.

I realize that confusion is not a fruit of the spirit but distinctions can be "puzzling" at times. Particularly within the trinity (a word that I haven't used in ages). Mostly I try to find the distinction between the Father and the son. I know it's there and sometimes it matters a great deal but almost always it is irrelevant all things considered. So yeah, it's something pretty simple but also pretty gentle the way that it eventually unpacked for me.

That perhaps is a better way to put it. Like how I've heard men say "that's females for ya" they are a "mystery" and something to ponder but not like "Nothing makes any sense! AOIHEKLJFLKJ!)#U)#$*)#(*!)...I'm scared I think I'm going to die!@#!" kind of confusion (which I think is what scripture is speaking of) or almost like someone were spellcasting.

I think there's a good kind of "puzzlement" because I think we probably are something like a puzzle whom the Lord only sees "in total" but even how we work within the body is a mystery and yet sometimes we have to know for the sake of fluidity and moving as one.

It is probable that I will have to give concentrated focus on my back. I've been wearing the same shoes for far too long, I sit in "unergonomically" sound chairs for long periods and even driving I'm sort of lazy. I'm not really sure the genesis but getting my core stronger will help and a back brace just makes sense if you are lazy with posture.

What kind of surgery did you get done if you don't mind? I haven't ever really had surgery in memory...I do recall getting tubes put in my ears when I was 6 but mostly just getting a teddy bear at the hospital lol. I imagine it's exhausting though...I have had some ordeals at the hospital and I rate them about a 2/10 would prefer not to do again sort of thing ;)
