Actually this isn't a chat room. These are the forums. The chat room is in real time. Forums are a slower method of chatting that allows conversations to last longer and at a slower pace. You can even come back later and participate since the threads will still be up.
In the chat rooms, just like normal conversation, if you walk away for an hour it's all changed.

I like to think that CC is like hanging out at my favorite coffee place - there is always someone friendly to chat with and you find a lot of different conversations happening at the same time, so you can choose what you're interested in. You can drop in before and after work, or whenever you need a break!
The forums make it easy to catch-up and participate in conversations.
