Hi everyone my name is Ray and I am 44, i have always known God but I felt like at some point in my late 20s I strayed away from his word, In my late 30s I tried to reconnect but I felt so distant from God.

Now I see his work in everything that I do. I am so blessed but still feel so empty inside and alone. I walk around with a smile and every one thinks I have it all together but inside I feel like a lost soul, just asking God to take me home.

'I have learned the necessity of maintaining a daily spiritual consciousness.
In doing so I become more connected to "God's presence" as the Holy Spirit
becomes a guiding reality in my life. Spiritual discipline helps lift the soul up
out of boredom and doubt.

Hi Michael1 nice you are joining CC, welcome! You sound alone but you're married, no? Then you're asking God to take you home...why is that when you're married? Anyway sorry if I'm being too nosy and may God bless & keep you and your family🙏🙌

I am married. the majority of us men don’t like to burden our significant other with things that weigh heavy on us, so keep it inside and pretend we are ok.

Hi Michael

I resonate with the feeling blessed whilst also feeling lost and disconnected. It is quite a struggle to feel like this. You want to walk in victory but it’s feels like plodding. I am going through the same at the moment and have been for some time due to life circumstance changes that I have had to grieve. I reassure myself that these wildernesses have an ultimate purpose. I pray that you can have moments of peace and joy and that hope remains in you.

Hi Tina,
Thank you for your comforting words. That is also part of my struggle my father passed away in my arms a few years ago and I don’t think I have fully gotten over it. I feel like I spent years building a career that the lord blessed me with but it came with major sacrifices. It sounds like we have a few things in common and I will also be praying for you.

It's great that you see his work in everything you do. I feel the same in the work that I do. Glad to have you onboard with us. Welcome to CC.

Psalm 13:5
New International Version
5 But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.

Luke 15:7
New International Version
7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Psalm 23
New International Version
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.

Hi Ray, most people, including Christians, experience that empty feeling at times. If you are feeling it an excessive amount of the time though you might want to either talk to your pastor, doctor or a mental health professional, it is always possible that there is some physical cause and talking to someone else might help either resolve it or help determine whether there is a physical cause.

Thank you for prayers Ray. I am aghast still at the power of prayer. 🫶

I had a medical career for 30 years that I had to retire from due to ill health/burnout. I felt it was my calling and my service. It too came with major sacrifices. I now live a very low key quiet life. I feel that God is showing me that I am loved regardless of my career/status/output. This is a hard thing to let go of though. A busy career for me was a blessing but also a distraction from and avoidance of connecting with emotional ups and downs including grief of parental loss and other traumas.

I’m slowly coming to terms with the beautiful peaceful reality of God’s kingdom vs the lie of worldly achievements and expectations.

This is discombobulating as I’ve been conditioned by the world despite being a Christian. It’s a bit of a tug of war and a work in progress.

I look on biblical figures who had their wilderness experiences for reassurance and comfort. It makes me feel less lonely.

I think this forum can also bring connections that help me to feel less isolated as I can feel in a weird limbo at times whilst trying to navigate this journey.

Non-Christian friends would advise me to do things to distract and to have ‘experiences’. I’ve learned though that these are temporary salves.

God is guiding another way. And he is patient. And understanding.

Go easy on yourself. (I’m good at suggesting this but less so applying it to myself 🙈)

Tina
