What scripture says that?..the one you gave about Noah ? I asking legitimate questions as I still don't see where this new moon is on the first of every month.

yes sir. I understand.
as I said, in another post, in English it can be difficult to see.
in Hebrew not so much.
Let's look at another verse:

This month [shall be] unto you the beginning of months: it [shall be] the first month of the year to you.
Exodus 12:2 (KJV, MBM)

The word for month in Hebrew is "cho-desh", and it means, the new moon. It was correctly translated as "month".
The Hebrew root word means, "to be new".
The luminaries are for signs and seasons.

The ancient Hebrews did not have roman calendars.
I don't mean to offend, but this is how they knew when it was a new month - when it was a new moon.

This makes sense to me. I think a lot of ancient societies based everything on the stars, moons, etc. It seems entirely possible that the Hebrews would have reckoned time this way. It's really not that far off from our system today. I've forgotten a lot of science from school:) My interest was piqued after seeing this thread and I've been reading about lunar phases and approximate time it takes the moon to orbit the earth
Our system of months is basically based on the approximate or average lunar phase. I can see how over time that being even one or two days off ( our system of a set number of days for every month) would make our calendar completely out of sync with the Hebrew one
I am using my phone and I had so many typos in my last response and I can't edit them :(

Ok....thanks. So, depending on how we interpret it - the Hebrew word for "month" can mean new moon or just month itself without a reference to a new moon. Gotcha!

no interpretation needed.
if it says, 10th day of the month, it means the 10th day after the new moon.

So, every first day in every month is a new moon? How do you know that? It certainly doesn't work in this time period now.

In the Hebrew calendar (not jewish) although they are alike, the 1st day if the month in biblical times was reckoned by the sighting of the new moon, now many debate as to what the new moon is , however in my studies I have discovered that this is the visible crescent moon sighted after the conjunction (when the moon is in the shadow of the earth) when we read the first of the month in the OT is refers to the new moon. as in Exo. when Moses was told "this will be the beginning of months" this was the 1st day of Aviv, the new moon, this Monday is the 1st day of Elul, (the seventh month).

How do we know that the old Hebrew calendar is really true in that every new moon is the first day of that month that the new moon occurs?

Who said that that's the way the calendar was made up?

Is it in scripture or a man-made tradition?

the world follows [a roman calander] and they changed it from the oracles of God.

is this not man made doctrine vs Gods statues and judgements?

What is a “Time”? For it is basic to several key prophecies.
a prophetic “time” is a 360-day year? Why not a year of 3651/4 days? Why not a solar year?

In ancient biblical times, a year was figured on a basis of twelve 30-day months.
Previous to the time, in Moses’s day, when God gave His people the sacred calendar,
the 30-day month was used.

Notice Genesis 7:11: “In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month,
the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep
broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.” Now verse 24: “And the waters
prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.”

Next, Genesis 8:3-4: “And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and
after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated. And the ark rested
in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.”

So notice—the flood started on the 17th day of the second month. At the end of 150 days,
the ark rested on Mount Ararat, on the 17th day of the 7th month. That was five months
to the day. Five 30-day months are precisely 150 days. So months, then, were 30-day months!

We find it definitely figured this way in both Daniel and Revelation.

Maybe their months weren't always 30-31 days? Is that possible? I was googking lunar phases and it does very by a day on average. Maybe the calculated the month based on the cycle instead of our modern way of dividing months
the cycle of the moon around the earth is 28 days some months are 29 but none are ever 30 (with the Hebrew calendar)

now this is cool, teaching from the old testament. Love it saints love it. As I said in another thread it's to bad the Jews and Christians separated.....so much to learn.
Go ahead brothers I am anxious myself.

well the moon is a very important aspect in understanding the things of God. The sun and moon and the stars were set into place to mark times seasons and appointed days and even those before the Egyptians who payed no heed to God would look to the stars and the moon for guidance and also for knowing the times and seasons.

and is it any surprise that the moon is a representation of us reflecting the light that God shines? after all the moon has no light of it's own but reflects the light of the sun, the moon is also a vital key to understanding bible prophecy the moon also helps control the tides of the ocean as well. It would not surprise me if a new moon was used by God for important events in history and also in the near future even the blood moon tetrad was a signal of something that is to come

Gen 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

to be more exact

Psalms 104:19 (KJV)

He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.

but man runs off a solar calander

as it is true that the Gregorian calendar is what most observe and to do my secular business I too use this same reckoning, but personally I go by the one the Almighty set from the beginning.... not to be "Jewish" or anything but the way is see it is if he set it up for us, (He is outside of time) then it seems to me its better if I operate (as much as possible) in His time frame not one created and changed by man... seems every time man thinks to "improve" something its not improved at all. I have been blessed in many ways since ive done this and as I never say its required , or think myself more spiritual for doing so, I feel closer to Him in ways I never have when I didn't... that just my experience.

So we are into Astrology now according to this thread. The stars and Galaxies affect our lives. Whatever else the universe is for I have doubts that most of it has much to do with us. I'm waiting for the next Jewish Roots sensation to pop up. I expect to see the Kabbalah lurch on to the site soon.

I do not mean to be rude or offence to anyone in any of my posts,
sorry if I have, but In the seventh chapter of the book of Daniel

Starting with the ancient Chaldean Empire of Nebuchadnezzar, this prophecy foretells
the successive [world rule] of the Persian Empire, Alexander’s Greco-Macedonian
kingdom with its four divisions, and finally, of the mighty Roman Empire.

Out of the original Roman Empire, symbolized by 10 “horns” growing out of the head
of a “beast,” are pictured the 10 resurrections of the Roman Empire that have continued
since its fall to the present, and are scheduled to continue until the coming of Christ.

Among these 10 kingdoms which have ruled in the Western world since the fall of Rome
to the present, appeared another “little horn,” whose “look was more stout than his fellows.”
In other words, another government, actually smaller, yet dominating over all the others.

Students of prophecy recognize this “little horn” as a great religious hierarchy.
And in the 25th verse of this prophecy, it is stated that this hierarchy shall

“think to change times and laws.” How Time Was Changed ?

This same power is mentioned again in the 17th chapter of Revelation, here pictured
as ruling over the kings and kingdoms of the Earth, persecuting the true saints.

In every possible manner, this power has changed time!

God begins the days at sunset, but “the little horn” has changed it so the world now
begins the day in the middle of the night by a man-made watch.

God begins the week with the ending of the true Sabbath, the seventh day of the week,
but the world begins the working week in the middle of the night, the second day of the week.

God begins the months with the new moons, but this “little horn” has induced the world
to begin the months according to a clumsy man-made calendar of heathen origin.

Lamentations 2:17 (KJV)

The Lord hath done that which he had devised; he hath fulfilled his word that he had commanded
in the days of old: he hath thrown down, and hath not pitied: and he hath caused thine enemy
to rejoice over thee, [
he hath set up the horn of thine adversaries].

1 Samuel 2:10 (KJV)

The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder
upon them: the Lord shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto
his king,
and exalt the horn of his anointed.

the word armageddon is actually 2 Hebrew words, one is Har, meaning mountain range, and the other is moged, meaning rendezvous or appointed time... this is battle is not abut a place but time or times, the enemy of our souls has been tireless to foist various manner of counterfeit days and times, to replace and usurp the one the creator of all things instituted from creation, and has been sad to say all too successful, but we are blessed to see the truth!

The days of Enoch were 365. Yes Judaism / Hebrews used a lunar calendar but made solar corrections for years also. When we say 144,000 it is a refernceto being in bondage to Egyptian (I.H.S.) practices. Still the bangers call many to "walk like an Egyptian" in today's songs. What is this 144,000 marker?

400 years Egyptian rule x 360 day lunar years = 144,000. A call to NOT WALK LIKE AN EGYPTIAN.

The Gregorian calendar always acknowledges the moon and it's phases. It calculates the Jewish feast days as well as the pagan. It knows solstices and equinoxes and for example uses BOTH the solar spring equinox PLUS the phase of the moon to calculate both Easter and Passover. Time is marked from before, BC and after, AD the coming of messiah and in so doing marks the "days" of creation. The calendars deserve their own thread but know for example the "ages" of the patriarchs are allegorical, metaphorical and literal in the sense of orbital patterns - see the "age" of Enoch above as 365, that is, the solar year (give or take).
