Considering where you live, why am I not surprised you want to go Air Force? lol
If you are anything other than air force where I live you automatically get banned.

***when I was 21 I joined the Army (1975)***I was a Chaplain's Assistant, so I got to be active with my faith----there was probably more freedom to preach the Gospel back then because I would get myself in some jams and get out---today I would probably be jail for taking some liberties in sharing God's Word and even rebuking some of the ministers---I got to see New York City and meet a lot of interesting people...So some of you here know my situation at home.
I have decided to go and graduate high school early so I can move out and get myself on my feet earlier.
I am making this thread to ask advice from those who may have went down this path? I have talked this through with my guidance counselor and she supports my decision and thinks I can do it and will end up fine.
I figured you were an emancipated minor.
GED might be easier than you think. If you don't have much trouble with reading, writing, and arith... math, just go in and take it. Hubby studied and worried for months, only to find out he never had to study at all. Easy for him. There was a break midway through the test and he was out having a smoke. He heard a couple of woman saying how hard it was, and it surprised him.
And, if you don't pass? Then you know studying is involved. (I'm lazy. If I don't have to study, I don't want to. lol)
i could get a GED no problem.... i couldve passed those tests in the 3rd grade
i wouldnt need to study lol
i just figured it would not make a difference
i make good money
but if you and willy think its suuuuch a big deal
i trust your opinions
doesnt take much time or money to sign up and get it done
ill do it
Hi Temp,
just a thought but as you are quite sporty, have you thought of becoming a
physio? I don't know what the salary is like in the US, but it seems to be one of those
jobs in the U.K. which is in high demand. Physios never seem to be out of a job and
there are different levels.
With each additional level you go up, there is the increase in salary. Plus many physios
seem to do their training while earning as well. Though I'm not sure how it is in the US.
My situation is a lot different for many different ways and I know a lot of people have advised or will advise you much better than I can but here goes.
This is what I'm currently doing. I'll graduate a year early with a few college credits done. My diploma won't look any different than someone who sat there for 4 years. But here are a few things I've taken from being not under parental control. This is just me and as I said my situation was a lot different than yours but also sort of similar in some ways.
1. Pray about it first. Make no decisions without doing that. He'll give you the instruction if you're taking the time to listen. Slow down and take that time. You'll be glad you did.
2. Don't expect people to encourage you....They likely won't . They've told me I'll fail more times than I can count. I refuse to let it bother you and don't refuse to ever listen to them again simply because they didn't encourage you once. They've just seen idiot kids do stupid things and they're mostly concerned. Some aren't but most don't just hate you.
3. Whatever you think it'll cost. Double that. Life is so much more expensive than I thought it'd be.
4. Any mental picture you have of how great or awesome it'll be. Throw that away. You'll basically just work your butt off. For me...it's been worth it. I don't regret it. But it's literally 100 times more difficult than I ever imagined. None of the existing issues you deal with really totally go away. Even if your parents don't talk to you...the baggage is still there. You just have more responsibility and more space...but you rarely enjoy the space because you'll be working your butt off.
5. If possible....find an older couple or person who can help you. Not financially or anything just someone to bounce ideas off of. Someone you could run potential roommates through for opinion...bounce any ideas off of. I have a few of these and they're literally amazing. I don't always do exactly what they say but they usually throw reasons at me that I'd never have thought of alone. Sometimes I do it anyways....rarely but its happened. There's wisdom in experience and most the time you can find older people who genuinely wish you well and won't mind at all. I've got a few guys my grandparents age that I know cringe when I say "This is going to sound dumb.....but...." lol.
There are so many things you won't think about right now....some I know people mentioned. Like health insurance. Make a list of that kind of stuff and start figuring it out now. Look into grants incase you decide to go to college. Realize your age is a mark against you but if you can present yourself in a mature and responsible way...people will get over it. And this comment isn't to be taken personal...but realize you don't know everything. Not even close. And if you make people realize you are capable and not full of yourself....you'll get along much better.
Think "about ten years older" range. After all, if God is gracious, you want to stick with them until you're "the same age." (There's a reason I think anyone 51 - 71 is my age. The older you get, the less immediate age matters. So anyone within ten years of me is my age now. Outside that range, you're either younger or older.1) of course, I have been praying over this for a while
2) Okay, thank you
3) Alright >. <
4) Lol I have no mental picture of it being great. I've seen many people do it and I've seen their struggles. I know it won't be easy or great.
5) Hm.... I will try to search for that.... I don't know any "older" couples but I know middle age couples?

No one ever grows out of stupid decisions. The best we get to is less-stupid decisions. (I just want you to know that, so when you do something stupid in your 60s, you don't feel like you're forever stupid.)
What is a physio?
This!
Physiotherapy - NHS Choices
In the UK, they work at helping people with mobility issues.
So if someone broke their leg, they would help with exercises to get muscles
moving again for example. Or if someone had a fall they help getting them
moving again.
We have had physios come to the house to help my aunt with her mobility.
So they also work in the community.
Plus they work in old people's homes, then there are sports physios.
Plus people with bad backs often benefit from physio therapy and lots lots more.
In the UK physios are employed by the NHS, but there are loads of private companies
who use them too. Private medical practices, companies etc.
The place I work has just employed a company to give free physio to staff who would
benefit from it, to cut sickness absence from bad backs, falls, injuries, arthritis etc.
This is what is needed to be a physio in the Uk, much of it is on the job
training. So you do your degree while working. The US will have its own
qualifications/degrees.

Or maybe there are other things you could look into which do on the job training,
earning and learning at the same time.
