My name is Scott, professionally known as Bilistic. I have been a recording artist/music producer/audio engineer for 25 years. I have put out over 30 albums under my New Life Records Label. I have recently found God and have completely changed the music I make. I am working on my 1st Christian Hip Hop album, titled Divine Detours. I have just uploaded the 1st 3 music videos. I produced all the beats, wrote all the songs, recorded & mixed all the songs, and edited all the videos. I would love your feedback and am happy to provide feedback to you as well. Hi There----

I would love to hear your testimony about how Christ found you. Since He seeks to save those who are lost. Amen? Praise God, dude, for your salvation.

"Choices" good song. Nice work.

When we sing songs to glorify King Jesus then we would be blessed for sure!

Peace in Christ,
Sanders

Pretty good. They all sound professionally mixed and mastered.

"Darkest days" was the most interesting one.

"I don't think they know" sounds kind of like a humble brag. Just my impression. For sure it will play well for hip hop audiences.

"Choices" audio gets a little muddy between 2:00 and 2:15. Sounded like you were going for a choir sound, specifically a small church choir. Too many different sound sources in the same frequency range, makes it sound a bit confusing. If you reduce the background singers slightly, so the lead singer comes through more clearly, it should clear it up. Not reducing by much, maybe 1/6th. Maybe 1/7th.

Thank you for your response. I recently visited Life church and it just really spoke to me. Idk if you've ever heard of them but their mission is to reach the people who really need to hear the message and that's exactly what I want to do with my music now.

The title track, Divine detours, sounds like a mashup of two different styles that don't really mix together. Like broccoli with peanut butter sauce. Even if the broccoli is steamed to perfection, even if the peanut butter sauce is perfectly piquant, it's just not going to taste as good as broccoli with cheese sauce or jelly in the peanut butter.

And in this case both the broccoli and the peanut butter sauce were in fact done pretty well. It was just jarring every time it switched from a swing sound to rap and back again.

I know, I know, a hip hop song is legally required to be at least one quarter rap... But have you tried singing the rap lyrics with a tune that fits the verse chord progression instead of as rap?

Alternatively, could you try pitching the rap part about 3/4 of an octave lower? Still rap, still without a tune in the lyrics, but just with a lower pitched voice. Just a thought...

On the other hand, that effect may be exactly what you wanted. Music is very subjective. If you're happy with it, ignore what I said.

Time for change, I have no suggestions. Pretty good song. Kind of like Lecrae's "Rebel" album crossed with a Mynista track.

By the way, have you listened to other Christian hip hop? Do you want some recommendations? Or is your musical plate pretty full right now?
