I have been in a relationship with my guy for more than 2 years, we have recently decided to be celibate ...Again! We want to grow stronger in our relationship with God! What are some suggestions for intimacy without having sex?

It's awesome you have decided to further your relationship with God and each other. But one thing to consider is perhaps limiting intimacy in general may be part of it. You aren't married, so intimacy should not be on the same level as a married couple. Sex is the ultimate expression of intimacy for a married couple, which is why i feel that intimacy of any kind should be limited before marriage. Lets face it, intimate acts are typically precursors to sex. Intimate leads to more intimate which leads to more intimate.....

Thank you, we are working through this and it is easier that we are both on the same page, even though it's difficult. We have known each other since highschool, however never more than platonically, we lost touch for about 16/17 years and then re-connected 2 years ago and began a more intimate relationship. We realize that it's not wise to do more than a kiss or hug when saying hello or goodnight and sleeping in the same bed (and I do mean just sleeping) has been on the decrease lately, although we have had great self control when we have shared a bed recently. When temptation arises and we are not together, we often convince each other to go to sleep while were texting back and forth. Often one of us will just stop responding, indicating that we need to end all conversation for the night.
