Hello everyone! I was just thinking about something.

For those who don't work a 9-5 shift, it may be difficult to socialize with other people. So, I was thinking, "What sort of event can I set up that's geared towards night-shift workers where they all can socialize with one another?"

So, I'm calling out to everyone who works the night shift, whether it be 3-11PM, 11PM-7AM, or something in between. What do you all like to do when you're not working? What do you like to do on your days off? Or, is socializing the last thing on your mind because of your schedule?

As far as I'm concerned, I don't go out much because of my work schedule. (Mind you, I'm not complaining at all.) The problem is, if I suddenly went to permanent days, I wouldn't even know what to do with myself! (Again, I'd be cool with it).

Any thoughts on what night shift workers do when they're not working?

I work 11 - 8 so not night shift, but too late for most of the evening activities I would want to do. I don't go out much , partially because of my work schedule and partially because I'm an introvert who has a job talking on the phone all day (it's okay, I just have to flip on my social pleasantries switch, but I sure don't want to do more quick shallow conversations after work ), but mostly because I'm a complete and total homebody. My ideal of socializing is come on over and we'll have tea and play games. And I've definitely noticed that there are very few activities around that can accomodate my schedule (either start too late in the morning or to early in the evening). One thing that would be nice for that crowd would probably be a brunch social, small group, whatever that meets at around 8 AM (just after work for the 11-7 crowd and not getting up unreasonably early for the 3-11 crowd). It could be as simple as meeting for coffee and donughts or as fancy as people want to get. But yeah what I've really learned from working a later shift is I have to make my mornings count because that's the time I have open to use. But mostly I imagine that night shifters hang out with other night shifters when they hang out at all.

You could always start up the Single's Lounge in chat again. It used to be enjoyable.

I just quit my night job after 4 years of misery lol
Seemed all I thought of when i was home!.. I should be sleeping, but its Day time, so I don't want to

Saturday mornings after working all night!... If i sleep all day, I should feel better on Sunday. But i did not want to waste my Saturday sleeping. So I never did. Then I had the blahs both Saturday and Sunday.

Come Monday I would start feeling good again. But I should go to bed at noon to get 7 hrs sleep before the alarm goes off. But i cant sleep because im finally feeling good again. Thoughts then come to mind!... Go to bed at Noon? No way, So I get behind in my sleep again. Then the cycle repeats over and over and over again ;):o:D

On a positive note!. Set my alarm 2hrs before heading out the door gave me time to exercise, eat good, make a healthy lunch, and relax before heading off too work. When I screwed up my weekend without getting enough sleep. I could still recover my weekend activities a bit by doing a good 2 hr dirt bike ride before work on Monday.

Being responsible and getting some rest on Saturday. I could have had a bit of a normal? social Saturday night. Resting Saturday would make for a pretty good Sunday most always if I wanted. I did not let the job trash me too much. Lots of exercise before work. And outdoor activities/exercise on Sunday or Monday before work

I used to work 11pm to 7am and I would sleep all day. It wasn't great, but at least work was peaceful and quiet, until that last hour at 6am when a bunch of people come in on their way to work. Ugh.. that last hour was like torture..

If you don't mind socialising with uni students they often have odd calendars. There would also be other clubs (perhaps a bridge club) around that do things through the day, but I'm not really sure in terms of peers. Hmmm.

Games and tea Cinder? Sounds fun!

I popped into the singles chat room last night and was surprised to see around 7 peeps in there! I didn't recognize any of the names but I made sure I split before they noticed me...
