What does this verse mean?

We see the Pope calling Jesus Lord, many other people like that. How can this verse be harmonized with Matthew 7:21-23? What does it mean? How are we to understand it?

To claim Jesus as Lord it has to be believing in Him as the ultimate authority for it to be valid.

It is obvious when the Roman Empire embraced Christianity they did not get rid of their pagan and occult ways and it became their foundation for interpreting of scriptures.

Joseph Smith had a belief system that was not part of the Bible and it became his foundation for the interpreting of scriptures.

So it is strange the Pope says Jesus is Lord when there is no way he is led of the Spirit.

But the Pope has a belief system that denies Jesus as Lord by claiming Mary is the mother of God and the Queen of heaven.

And bowing down to a statue of Mary and praying to her.

And the Pope calling Himself Holy Father.

Which a man called Jesus good and He said why call me good for there is only one good and that is God.

And Jesus said call no man on earth father for God is your Father.

Which we can call our natural father, father, but someone claiming to operate in a spiritual sense do not call father.

And people confessing to Catholic priests.

Which the Bible says we can go boldly to the throne which we confess our sins to God not have a priest mediate for us.

And there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

Because of the beliefs of the Pope and the Catholics they are taking away the ultimate authority of Jesus.

So them calling Jesus the Lord can be done without the Holy Spirit influencing them.

The Mormon Church says Jesus is Lord.

But they believe Jesus and Lucifer are brothers.

And they will be as the Father and rule their own planet.

So they do not believe Jesus is the ultimate authority because of their beliefs.

So them calling Jesus the Lord can be done without the Holy Spirit influencing them.

Jehovah's Witnesses believe Jesus is Lord, but consider God the Father to be the ultimate authority.

They view Jesus as God's first creation and understand "Lord" to signify his authority as king and high priest, not equal divine power with the Father.

So them calling Jesus the Lord can be done without the Holy Spirit influencing them.

Many people call Jesus as Lord but their beliefs deny His ultimate authority so they are saying it without the Holy Ghost.

Those saying Jesus is the Lord the ultimate authority are doing so by the Holy Ghost.

He seems to be addressing idolatry thier former ways an

“Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed:

and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.”

It seems he’s hearkening back to some things that we’re said that led then astray to idolatry . Some called Jesus accursed and others were preaching him as lord . Maybe it’s a warning having something to do with thier past that led to the idolatry

not sure . But in my lifetime I’d say I’ve heard people say it that really I wouldn’t think the Holy Spirit was inspiring the words . But it’s only my own perception

In 1 Corinthians 12:3, the Greek will help give you the understanding your need.

Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

speaking = λαλέω / laleō = utter words, usually in a casual manner.
alleth = λέγω / legō = lay forth, relate. Used to give logical structure to the sentence, not carrying any authority, it is more grammatical than anything.

say = ἔπω / epō = command, call, grant, say. This is a authoritative act of saying something.

So you have one where the act of speaking is without power and authority, ultimately telling a lie, which is why it cannot be backed by the Spirit of God.

And you have another act of declaring the Truth through the Holy Spirit, the verb carrying authority in whatever is said.

Its part of the world we live in where people can utter words without belief. However, the opposite is true, it is also possible to speak words loaded with passion and energy.

You can even say the very same sentence with or without energy. This is basically what is being said, the one who utters things they do not understand has no power or authority behind them. But the one who passionately declares the Truth, He has all the power in the world supporting him!
