Luke 4:24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.
Jesus says this to people who are his own countrymen. In verse 22 it says "And all bare him witness , and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?"
They would not except Jesus because as Jesus said "No prophet is accepted in his own country."
Jesus then gives two examples of prophets who were sent somewhere besides their own country in the Old Testament.
Vs.26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.
These prophets were sent to someone else because as Jesus says, "No prophet is accepted in his own country." The people were not excepting Jesus, so He gave two examples of prophets that were sent to someone who would accept them outside their own country.
Jesus' teaching is still true today. You may find that if God leads you to do a great work for Him you might have to move and find somewhere where you are excepted outside your local area.

Second example
Vs.27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian. These prophets were sent to someone else because as Jesus says, "No prophet is accepted in his own country." The people were not excepting Jesus, so He gave two examples of prophets that were sent to someone who would accept them outside their own country.
