The sacraments can't save a person, I used to believe what the Catholic Church taught about salvation but now I believe what the Bible says about it. The Church teaches that the 'holy father' the pope has the final authority to interpret the Bible, because there are too many opposing views of what the Bible says about salvation. I don't believe the pope anymore either
All the popes are anti-Christ's..

Those among His people who were faithful, and demonstrated love will be blessed and they will inherit the kingdom of God.

Those among His people who were unfaithful and do not demonstrate love will hear these words from Him:

41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’ Matthew 25

These did not inherit the kingdom of God. JPT
Those on the left hand who went to hell did nothing for God.

Then you said the parables about some of those who were left behind were about His servants. So let me ask in your opinion, how is our love for God demonstrated if we do not serve him?

Any person, religion, creed, etc that takes away one micro gram of Glory from God in any form or fashion and in turn places that glory on man is Anti-Christ.... I will, I will , I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will

All Glory goes to the Father dia JESUS......salvation based upon what we do or don't do places emphasis upon us and our ability....end of story.....!

Blue,
it seems that he has finally found this out in his journey! it's always a plus to hear
someone confess that they have found out a lie and then have found the Truth from it,
a new Truth that only The Holy Spirit can teach them and that means that they are confessing error -
and are growing from it - it truly makes our hearts rejoice...

this has happened to the both of us many times when The Holy Spirit started to open our
old-worldly-distorted-corrupted-hearts that were full of lies and deceit
and began to teach and lead us down Jesus Christ's Holy pathway...

You NEED to rethink the Parable of Ten Virgins. It is the Difference between Church Goers and Born Again Christians. NO HOLY SPIRIT IN THE HEARTS OF THOSE WHO ONLY SETTLED FOR KNOWING ABOUT JESUS, and REALLY KNOWING HIM, Intimately, Submitting to HIM as LORD Meaning Master, AND HAVING THE HOLY SPIRIT BIRTH THEIR HUMAN SPIRIT INTO ETERNAL LIFE, AND HAVING HIM POUR GOD'S LOVE DIRECTLY INTO OUR HEARTS, Rom. 5:5.

THOSE WITHOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THEIR HEARTS, ARE NOT ONLY THE FIVE FOOLISH VIRGINS, BUT ALSO THOSE JESUS TOLD US ABOUT IN MAT. 7.

Matthew 7:21-23 (HCSB)
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but ⌊only⌋ the one who does the will of My Father in heaven.

22 On that day many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name?’
23 Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you! Depart from Me, you lawbreakers!’

That KNOWING HIM intimately and personally, is a synonym for BORN AGAIN, and JESUS CHRIST IS THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY, and FOREVER.

John 3:5-7 (HCSB)
5 Jesus answered, “I assure you: Unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
6 Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh, and whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Do not be amazed that I told you that you must be born again.

Matthew 25:1-13 (HCSB)
1 “Then the kingdom of heaven will be like 10 virgins {Church Goers} who took their lamps and went out to meet the groom.
2 Five of them were foolish and five were sensible.
3 When the foolish took their lamps, they didn’t take olive oil with them.
4 But the sensible ones took oil in their flasks with their lamps.
5 Since the groom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
6 “In the middle of the night there was a shout: ‘Here’s the groom! Come out to meet him.’
7 “Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps.
8 But the foolish ones said to the sensible ones, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’

{That is a synanym for the Born Again experience where the HOLY SPIRIT births our human spirit into Eternal Life}
9 “The sensible ones answered, ‘No, there won’t be enough for us and for you. Go instead to those who sell, and buy oil for yourselves.’
10 “When they had gone to buy some, the groom arrived. Then those who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet, and the door was shut.
11 “Later the rest of the virgins also came and said, ‘Master, master, open up for us!’
12 “But he replied, ‘I assure you:
I do not know you!’
13 “Therefore be alert, because you don’t know either the day or the hour.

1 John 2:4 (HCSB)
4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him, yet doesn't keep His commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

EVERY SINGLE TIME it is the LACK OF NOT BEING BORN AGAIN, disqualifies one from being one:

John 1:12-13 (HCSB)
12 But to all who did receive Him, He gave them the right to be children of God,
to those who believe in His name,
13 who were born, not of blood, or of the will of the flesh, or of the will of man, but of God.

Received Him as WHAT?

Colossians 2:6 (NIV)
6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him,

Romans 10:9-13 (NASB)

9 that if you confess {Not just PROFESS it, as it is not a confession unless you have willingly out of LOVE FOR HIM, actually received HIM as your LORD and Master.} with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
11 For the Scripture says, "WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED."
12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him;
13 for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."

It is all there, and yet so many miss it. Sadly some Churches NEVER teach Born Again, and some misinterpret it.

I personally think, at least 50% will miss the BOAT (Not get to go to heaven, because they NEVER were Born Again), having their Human Spirit birthed into Eternal Life:

Matthew 24:37-42 (HCSB)
37 As the days of Noah were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be.

38 For in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah boarded the ark.
39 They didn’t know until the flood came and swept them all away. So this is the way the coming of the Son of Man will be:
40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and one left.
41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and one left.
42 Therefore be alert, since you don’t know what day your Lord is coming.

Luke 17:34 (HCSB)
34 I tell you, on that night two will be in one bed: One will be taken and the other will be left.

EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO DOES NOT MAKE IT, WILL BE FOR THE SAME REASON, THEY WERE NOT BORN AGAIN.

They all think they DESERVE to go to HEAVEN, because of their WORKS, and they will be bitter towards HIM:

Matthew 13:41-43 (HCSB)
41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather from His kingdom everything that causes sin and those guilty of lawlessness.
42 They will throw them into the blazing furnace where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in their Father’s kingdom. Anyone who has ears should listen!
You quote this scripture:
1 John 2:4 King James Version (KJV)
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

First of all, how do we know that someone has truly been baptized of the Holy Spirit (knows him)?

The answer is: that person keeps the commandments that Jesus taught us.

So if keeping the commandments is not about salvation, but is about sanctification, can one be save without being sanctified?

Wow, you have just joined decon in throwing under the bus 90% of Christians.

The Catholic church is not true, that means the Eastern churches are not true because they believe almost the same as the Catholics. Most of the protestant churches are not true because they are only micro inches away from what the Catholic church believes.

So there you have it. Practically all Christendom is corrupted and apostatized.

Now we come down to the beliefs of decon and blue. I'm betting you put those 2 together and it would not be long before they could not be in the same room together because of their individual beliefs. Wow, geesh, wow.

That list would include Jesus and all of his apostles, so now you have thrown even the founder of the faith and his pillars of the faith that he chose to be in charge when he left under your bus. Good going.

And you do that to keep your agenda alive that the second you believe you are saved for all eternities. Well now you are approaching 99% of all Christians + the founder Jesus Christ, who looked forward to having the power and glory bestowed back upon him from his God and his Father when he finished his business here on earth.

And he wanted glory to go to all those that believed in him.

We were sanctified "set apart" the moment we were born again. There are two major types of sanctification, positional, "justified in Christ", and our practice; a progressive sanctification that brings us to maturity in Christ.

No you cannot be saved without being sanctified, a work of God. We were saved, washed, sanctified and justified, in the name of Jesus, "by the Spirit of God."

Positional Sanctification: Justified in Christ
1Corinthians6:11
"And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."

Practical Sanctification: How we live day to day, spiritual growth.
2 Peter 3:18
"But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen."

Good Bye Nonsense

"Completely foolish nonsense"

So you have a person saying I believe in Jesus and I am going to try to keep his commandment, and that is completely foolish nonsense to you. Are you a pastor or teacher? I suspect Jesus would say to you, much the same as he did Nicodemus that came to him at night, " Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?"

I hope when you get to the gates of heaven and you say proudly that you did nothing but believe in Jesus, I hope you get in? I really hope you get in? You seem like a person that should be in.

Now if 'nothing' is not right, tell me what is necessary besides just believing in Christ?

That is actually well said. Now the question is: does one need both positional and practical sactification in order to be saved?

Proof please, a bible verse.
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

Jesus gave the glory that he had to his apostles, and with this glory, they turned around and their works glorified God and Jesus even more.

Hebrews 10:14-18
14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.
15 But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before,
16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” 17 then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” 18 Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.

Keeping his commands is not about salvation.
Genuine faith in Jesus is the cause of the effect, not the other way around.

Faith = salvation = sanctfied = to be declared holy set apart to do the following = sanctification.

Ephesians 2:10
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Romans 8:28-30
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

If God has sanctified us, justified us then Romans tells us for those who love him, those called according to his purpose HE predestined to BE CONFORMED TO THE IMAGE OF JESUS.

Question if you do not mind.

What is baptised of the Holy Spirit?
I ask that because I've heard it said also "In the Holy Spirit"

It's not something I truly understand.

But also and I may be confusing you with someone else but don't you believe that we must be water baptised to be saved?

If not accept my apology.

For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

Notice has perfected forever THOSE WHO ARE BEING SANCTIFIED.
Not those who sanctify themselves.

Obedience will follow genuine faith in Jesus.
It has to, because it is he who works good in us to conform us to the image of his son.

All of us must remember that some grow quicker than others, some bear fruit quicker than others.

Not everyone has the same level of works.

Matthew 13:8
8 But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
