Not young but very new

Growing up in the 70's-80's the only time I went to church was when I was invited to go with a friend. I was not baptized till I was 39. 3 years later I am still struggling. Shortly after I was baptized my minister/counselor moved. The church brought in a series of "guest" ministers over the next year. I just did not "feel" the new rotation of ministers that filled in and after a year I stopped attending the church. Unfortunately I never took the time to find a new home. I am now, at 42, ready to restart my journey. I have plenty of questions ranging from bible version, finding a proper home, how to study the bible, where to get answers about the bible, how to pray (I'm an introvert and that includes trying to speak with God), and so forth. Many of my questions I anticipate finding on this site and for the ones that I don't see I will post up and maybe somebody else will be willing/able to help me out.

Yes, I think you should find yourself a church. No churches are perfect. Just find one you like.

I would suggest you read the Bible cover to cover. It’s only 1000 pages. Start at the beginning and keep reading till you’re finished.

Don’t depend too much on what other people tell you about the Bible. They might be wrong about some things. If you read the whole Bible yourself, won’t you know as much as they do?

I wouldn’t worry too much about which version to use. I might suggest the New King James Version, but actually, I use an older version, the Revised Standard Version.

As far as being introverted, you mustn’t be afraid of the Lord. He’s the most caring being in the world. You should be talking to him all the time.

This is a great point and one I consistently learn with every new endeavor I start, and yet I seem to need to relearn it each time.

I would suggest you read the Bible cover to cover. It’s only 1000 pages. Start at the beginning and keep reading till you’re finished.

This is definitely something I plan on doing posthaste.

I know he is. Even though I have not walked very closely with him in the past I have felt his grace never the less. I will get over the hurdle, I just need to remind myself constantly till I get more comfortable.
