nudity in art?

SAying that they were created in GOd's image and that would suggest they were "Clothed" in light as the scripture says God is... and that it was sin that robbed them of this "clothing", hence finding themselves "NAKED" and having a desire to HIDE and cover themselves. then God came and made sacrifice of animals to give them clothes of animal skins... blah blah... you know the story. that's true. they did have clothing of light and glory. interesting point there missy. interesting point. people who have been to heaven always say that saints are clothed up there. robes and tunics and whatnot. huh. i wonder.
 
Personally,I'd be far less offended if I walked into a person's home & saw the statue of David than I would seeing a curio cabinet of precious moments figurines.

hahaha you're a goose and a half. why is your name itorethesky? i too would rather not see the precious moments collectibles. why is that? is it bc it's too cliche? sometimes i wonder why my soul repels some things and not others. is it nature? nurture? or nature's rebellion against something in that nurture? these and other questions....
 
I was found the idea of adam and eve be naked being absolutely beautiful. To me it illustrated that there were no inhibitions. No hidden sins. They were open, and put everything they were before God without holding back.

Never been called a goose and a half. lol I Tore The Sky comes from a song by a christian electronic/industrial band named Deitiphobia. The song is speaking of what God did for us by sending Jesus to die for our sins. Remember when Jesus was on the cross,in the bible it refers to the curtains of the temple being torn in two,the earthquake & how the ground split...the act of Christ's sacrifice for us basically tore open the sky. The dislike for precious moments figurines is based more on just my overall irritation for how when people once they come to Jesus,they suddenly begin to decorate their homes with these sickly sweet trinkets & religious sayings above their door frames or doormats...framed pictures all over the house of wheat fields & crosses...embroidered EVERYTHING with whimsical prayers or John 3:16 on them..and suddenly everyone's house smells like potpourri. lol It just seems like people go so overboard with all that stuff,as though it makes them a better christian now that they've decorated their homes in the style of a biblical Martha Stewart.

ohhh that reminds me.... one time. many years ago. maybe even 15 years now....i slept over at a girl's house. someone who was supposedly a christian. came to youth group and everything. her home was decorated as a christian family's would be. bible verses on the wall. everything the way you would picture it. but that sleepover.....was one of the most depraved experiences of my young life. the media choice. the conversations. the lifestyles. i was so slimed.

anyways. yeah. the house decorations don't impress me much. but then again. sometimes it's nice to turn a corner and be reminded of something God said to you once. so that you pause in your thought and remember Him. i usually dedicate like normal objects to a memory. like a bracelet or something. and hang it on my doorknob. and remember whatever it is i wanna remind myself just via art. it's like when God told the people to make an altar of rocks to remember what he did for them at that place- which sadly i forget what he did for them at that place. lol. was it the exodus? i can't remember. did God stop the water from flowing? something like that.

anyways. i'm all for pile of rocks around a house to remind people of who they know God to be. but as for corny trinkets and things. yeah. they make me a little.... i dunno. my face crinkles at the thought.

...I think anyone over the age of 70 is allowed to decorate like this. It's like...live long enough and earn the right to have revolting taste in home decor.

hahahaha...awwww bless...well little old people get a pass from me. I lurvesssssss me some little old people. They are the best to hear stories about God from too...I could listen to them all day talk about their walks with God.

There were actually several instances in the bible where the Israelite's made monuments out of stones as reminders of what God did for them. I think the instance you are referring to is when he split the Jordan for them to cross. There were a few instances in Joshua too if I remember right.

Is it not still being displayed in a museum? While it's nice to think that anyone who goes to a museum is going to be mature, that's not always the case. Besides, everyone of us at different times in our lives have different triggers. And these triggers are not always when we are close to God. In fact, it's usually when we started stepping away from God.

Yeah, I understand where you're coming from, but like what I've said before, any self-respecting christian who knows they have an issue with something should be taking action to take care of that problem, part of that is knowing what their triggers are. If they know their going to be triggered by something like that, they can and should look away, or better yet, just avoid. I'm sure an avid museum and art fanatic would know where they should and should not expect to see something that would trigger them. From my own personal point of view, by someone having an issue with lust and pornography that ends up stumbling because of nude art work, it's far to easy to use the reasoning you mentioned for them to put the blame on someone else which is extremely dangerous for them.

That's not to say you're wrong by any means. As christians we should do everything we can to avoid hitting people's triggers, but everyone is affected by something different and it's very likely we won't always avoid that. Reading ijustwantthetruth's posts about her own artwork I think she did a good job of making something she felt she should, while still being mindful of anyone who could be affected by it, hence the reason she made this post.

I apologize if I'm offensive in anyway, I don't mean to be, I'm just trying to explain how your perspective could be dangerous for someone involved.
