my health insurance costs went down last year.

my wife, who previously refused to 'waste money on insurance' now, in order to comply with the law, is insured.

a direct result of that has been to catch some very serious health problems in her early.

i thank God that even in the midst of an enormous, years-long smear campaign against the president, he's at least tried to push reforming an healthcare system that was (and still is) obviously broken, where previous presidents have done little to nothing to address it.

if this hadn't been done, though i might disagree politically with some aspects of it, my wife might have died in the coming year without us knowing anything about why, and i wouldn't have choices of plans for my son, who has a host of pre-existing conditions.

in everything give thanks! (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

She also could have opted to not buy insurance but instead pay the penalty fee. You must've finally convinced her to go ahead with it.

the law convinced her. without it being law, she would have continued on with bare-minimum care.
women, if you haven't learned, have a special knack for being obstinate.

i understand that it's a Republican's 'job' to hate the current administration, and to do everything in their power to continually slander it & stop it from accomplishing anything good, but that's not our job as Christians - which is in contrast, to pray without ceasing, to give thanks in all things, and do the work of the Father in heaven.

for what it's worth, i'm glad that this happened, but upset that we're coerced into a private insurance market. I'd much rather see an actual government-subsidized basic care program paid for out of taxes than what we have now, like many states have for the poor & underprivileged, but on a federal level. big buying power lowers prices. how do you think stuff-mart has been so successful? but ultimately, i think healthcare should be decoupled from for-profit industry. wether you're coerced to buy into a private insurance market or not makes no difference with regards to the motivation of insurance companies. they are out to make $$$ regardless of why you buy their policy.
someone might force you to go into a casino. it doesn't change the way the casino is going to operate.

next time you read the news, bear in mind that think-tanks today are spreading the message (& it's true) that people don't vote "for" anyone, they vote "against" the other guy. fear, hatred and vitriol motivate people to go to the voting booth; approval and agreement don't. in the same way viewership and readership is better motivated by negativity. we're being sold a line to keep us interested. this stuff is poison, and it tears down, it doesn't build up.

the law convinced her.

I'm afraid I don't understand. The law says you can forego the insurance simply by paying an extra fee. Some people have chosen to do this instead of having insurance. So in effect they remain without insurance but still have to pay a price, albeit not nearly as high a price as they would have paid had they bought insurance. So it doesn't really force anyone to get insurance. Not as I understand it. But it is a pain in the butt to have someone try to strong-arm you into buying insurance.

The Obamacouldcareless plan is a disaster, was proven to be a lie from the start and everything the republicans said it was, it turned out to be.

I guess you like being purposely lied to?

Many people are losing their insurance and ending up paying much much more for much less insurance....but you got your's.

I pray this foolish plan dies a terrible death.

How come your wife was not on your insurance?

Amazing how liberals support a president who is not only a proven liar but has had a ton of scandal in his administration.

I do hear there is an opening for the ambassador job in Lybia.

it was a matter of conscience for her. the law also doesn't 'prevent' one from illegally parking; you simply park wherever you wish and pay the appropriate fee. but is it then 'right' to illegally park?
to maintain honor as a citizen in the land, not found worthy of any fine, she agreed to be added to my policy. this was more important to her than the simpler (?) matter of having or not having a policy. does that make sense?

i'm a mathematician. an insurance company employs the same type of analysts that a casino does -- it's a numbers game, one in which bright minds are highly paid to make sure that the house always wins.
so paying out of pocket in a certain time-frame costs one less overall than paying a monthly premium in addition to copays etc.
rather than spend money on insurance for ourselves (we've always kept our child insured), we kept money aside for medical emergencies. not enough, of course, because healthcare is exorbitantly expensive, but for minor instances, we saved money by not handing over a fixed amount to an insurance broker periodically.
now, my job requires me to carry insurance, and the law also requires (or at the least, emphatically suggests) that my wife do also.
of course this 'plan of attack' tends to make one shrug off treatment for what a lay person considers 'minor symptoms' and forsake preventative care and regular checkups. hence our not knowing about her condition, which hadn't presented itself with serious symptoms yet. does that make sense?

who's a "liberal" ?

why involve yourself in the petty politics of this earth to the point where you would insult a brother on the messageboard who is a perfect stranger to you?

i'm not liberal, i'm not conservative, i'm not democratic, i'm not republican, i'm not even independent. i'm post.
Jesus is a monarch. He isn't "voted for" and He doesn't care about his poll numbers. His health plan is perfect and righteous, and it's the only one i truly care about.

as far as the politics of this world go, i'm sick to death of the anti-administration propaganda campaign, and how it's subverted so many believers into a ministry of vitriol and hate. the republican party and the tea party are not the party of Christianity, and they are no better and no worse than the democratic party. if you think any one of those toting the party line have lifted a finger to do anything but destroy everything this administration has worked to accomplish, you're sorely deceived. the GOP is even more saturated with lies than the DNC is. all i will say is that i stand behind the president because he is the president, and i stand behind an effort to improve health care across the board in this country because the Lord has given me a heart of compassion, and i believe a minimum standard of medical care in this country ought to be more than just the privilege of the rich.

first sign of a liberal...they deny it.

True compassion when it comes to health care would be to abolish Obamacouldcareless, if you understand its a political ploy, not a help. Believe me this plan has nothing to do with helping people, many have lost their insurance over this lie, its about political power.

If its such a bad thing to be involved politically and with the government, why take any government charity?

eh?

Compassion without discipine and common sence leads to spoiled chilren who cannot think for themselves. Thats what Obamacouldcareless is....at the very best. All parents know compassion is always tempered.

Read 1 Samuel 8:10-20 for what the government truly is....its never there to help you.

Funny you claim no political allegiance but support liberal ideals. First thing they teach you in Socialism 101 is...denial.

Obamacare...oops I mean the affordable health care act ( the president has removed his name from his failed star program....funny eh ? ) was NEVER meant to do anything but elect liberals and keep them in power.

Don't look at what liberals say...look what is accomplished...few signed up, an incompetent website and many many people in much worse shape than before.

Admit it, its not just in need of a fix ( liberals always claim this when their plans fail, which historically they always do, oh they just need to be fixed ), it was a failed ideal to begin with.

You cannot make something that is a limited resource and make it unlimited. I know...reality strikes once again. Fairy tales are for books, not real life.

Definitely a different perspective on the law than I had. I didn't think of refusing to buy insurance under this law as illegal but rather an option that's discouraged through an extra fee. Afterall, socialist policies have many extra fees that are supposedly aimed at redistributing wealth. Whether that's the case here or not I don't know. But I don't believe it illegal to refuse to buy insurance. In fact I've even heard that if you don't buy insurance and still refuse to pay the fee (if that's somehow possible) then you won't be thrown in jail for it. Maybe another one of those 'promises'. At any rate, whether or not your wife took it seriously doesn't mean she would have died. It just means she would have been strapped with big med bills for a checkup and treatment - something they also can't throw you in jail for not paying. Although they can take your belongings.

Another example of government inclinations that, if fought against, don't mean you're acting illegally is in China. Here many websites are blocked by the government. If you use programs to get around those blocks you're not acting illegally. It's just that if you can get around it the government tightens its grip and reforms its blocking technology. But they're not going to throw you in jail for going against their wishes. Nor is it illegal. As it's been explained to me.
