Nine dollars an hour would make it very hard for a college student like me to get a job.

Ever balanced a ledger?

When wages increase artificially, businesses have to adjust by increasing prices of goods and services or by decreasing employment, or some other expenses. Thus, hiring someone like me for a summer is a hassle unless it's food service. Minimum wage laws generally do more economic damage than what they attempt to fix.

I agree, I get 30 or more hours a week now and if the minimum wage increased I'd get a lot less work. I can understand needing a higher wage in some places since it cost so much more to live there, but in Oklahoma you can buy a decent house on $9 an hour 30 or more hours a week.
 
When the minimum wage goes up unemployment goes up. Then we complain about not having jobs so we subsidize everything in life such as food, gas, clothes... even the money we print. Then the government starts going into the red and to balance it they decide to put in more/ higher taxes. When higher taxes come people complain about not having enough money to pay for food and gas, ANYONE SEE A CONNECTION???

If a company makes $10 a day and pays 5 workers $1 a day the overall cost is $5 for the workers and leaves the rest of the $$$ for the owner and new merchandise. When someone comes in and says you must pay them $2 a day then the over all cost is $10 and the owner has no money for himself or the merchandise so he is forced to cut workers. He fires 2 workers and puts one on part-time. Now we have unemployment.... (drastic example but the principal is easy to see)


I hate feel good laws, we need a prez who will just say YOU ARE ALL GOING TO HATE LIFE BECAUSE US POLITICIANS (AND YOUR GREED) HAVE RUINED AMERICA AND BECAUSE OF THIS THE NEXT 10-20 YEARS WILL BE HORRID. BUT I PROMISE WITH THESE PLANS WE WILL REVIVE AMERICA TO ITS ONCE GLORY SELF.

problem is we americans are greedy and don't want to suffer so we put it off on our children, and they put it off on their children, until the snowball becomes and avalanche...

Obama care is causing people to get a lot less work. I know 2 markets in the city here that cut pretty much ALL full time workers back to 20hrs week at one and 25hrs week at the other. (the one that is now 20hrs wk. they made some harsh rules to. if you are to clock out at 5pm you clock out at 5pm. clocking out at 5:01pm results in write up 3 write ups you no longer have a job)

And the markets aint the only places cutting hours back big time.

That's why it's nice to have Tribal membership, because if you do you're exempt from the insurance mandate.

that might be good for you personally. but what about where you work?

tribal membership wouldnt save those who are working say for the markets i just described.

Well golly gee people should be willing to work for free and be kiss-*ss grateful for it. Meanwhile let's keep pumping cash into the Mitt Romney type's pockets so's they can afford yet another mansion. Health care? What do the people need health care for? They're all going to be dead from overwork and exposure soon anyway.

let me guess we should just take from those evil rich people and give it away to the poor right?
 
Obama won't trim the more than $1.03 trillion a year being handed out in pure welfare because handing out other people's money and borrowed money from China to those who never earned it is how the Democrat party buys the votes they need to stay in power. So Obama has decided to cut Social Security which is an entitlement program (people pay into it) not a welfare program and blame it on the GOP instead. What a fraud this guy is.

Most people in Oklahoma have some Indian blood in them, but not that many have enough proof of their heritage to qualify for an Indian card. I will admit I don't maintain strong ties to the Choctaw nation, but because of my grandmother I'm a member of the Tribe. You wouldn't take me for an Indian when you looked either since I take almost all my characteristics from the German side of my family.

Anyway the reason members of a federally recognized Tribe are exempt is because technically we have free healthcare through the Indian Health Service on the reservation.
 
I worked in receiving for nine years at a local grocery store, the last time minimum wage went up, I had to do around 30 pages of price increases.

Nope, an employer should give an appropriate wage for the work that is done. I believe fruit and vegetable pickers are often underpaid. I have an on-campus job I should not be getting 7.35 for. The work isn't worth 7.35 if you can call it work.

Just because they worship mammon, doesn't mean you should by being envious of them having more therefor enacting legislation to steal it.


I don't much care for wasteful spending, but that doesn't mean I get to feel justified in my envy and lust for money either.

It would be more affordable if we changed our life style. Also, did you know that hospitals have to hire a significant office staff just to process medicare/medicaid paper work? The process could be streamlined while cutting expenses too, but that's not an easy solution so Washington chooses an easy solution, throws a band-aid on the problem, and hopes the dam holds.

They're all going to be dead from overwork and exposure soon anyway.

We'll be dead from poor life-styles before any work ever kills us. You need a Protestant work ethic. ;)
 
This is the problem with a fixed economy.
The more things the federal government gets involved with, the more the prices go up....(because it has an endless supply of credit).
Plus, it is obvious that the people who control the Federal Reserve, (and thus, the governments line of credit); want a one world economic system. That is why corporations actually get tax breaks to move their factories overseas.
See the big picture folks. Both parties are merely the left and right hand of the same puppeteer.
