Older and wiser?

Sometimes the young have a fresher perspective on simple wisdoms that are easy to forget when people grow up and get too busy. Sometimes the old have been deceived by decades of personal baggage they weren't willing to let go of.

On the other hand, there are plenty of stupid young people and wise old people out there. ;) It depends on which direction they take.
 
Let us distinct between wisdom from God and wisdom from experience. Wisdom from God can be given exceedingly to a young person while an older person might be set in his own understanding (proud) and unable to receive the wisdom from above. On the other hand, in genereal, there is something called "learning by experience" or "lifewisdom". That kind of wisdom is also related to the life in christ. For instance, the first 2-4 years of my christian life, i remember how my lack of experience led me to draw some wrong conclutions.Through the years I learned more about the life in christ. BUT sometimes experience can also lead to wrong conclutions - opposing the wisdom of God. Experience can be interpreted in a earthly/carnal way, or in a spiritual way. Paul wrote in Timothy 4.12: "Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young". Timothy had the wisdom from God, and was spiritually equiped. But it is likely that also Timothy grew in wisdom throug the years.
 
Seriously though I agree with what Vaarsoeg said. It's good to have both wisdom from God and life experience :)
 
I have noticed over many years that true wisdom seems to flow from those without pride or a point to make. Many times these are very young people, and sometimes they are older. It seems that many use the pretense of intellect to mask the absence of true wisdom. I have sadly seen this in both young and old.Hallelujah for those to whom Jesus and others are more important than making a point. :)

Great point, o wise one!!! A very popular spiritual guru/psychologist who studied the many writings of famous religious and scientific persons like Ghandi, Mother Teresa, Einstein, etc. said that one trait which all of these brilliant, inspiring minds had is extreme humility.

Sarah, be glad your wisdom teeth don't want to come out. it hurts!

I do agree that experience contributes to wisdom but I don't think it correlates with age. I am fairly sure I have more experience breeding Shetland ponies (for example) that most people on here however i am much younger that a lot of people. I am also a lot younger than many of the other pony breeders in Shetland and yet have more experience and wisdom than many of them.

i have two half teeth and two still under gums. the worst bit is when they break through the gums, no wonder babies cry is all i can say. I have to wait till mine get all the way through then probably will have to get them pulled as my jaw is not big enough.
 
I think most of the best wisdom comes accidentally. God can best get through to the stubborn people (like me lol :D) the best when we accidentally stop trying so hard to know what to do. Cause when we try too hard that just blocks out his message. :o

P.S. I have all my wisdom teeth still, yays! :p
