That sounds cool but to me if that's true then people could just get by with being lukewarm and at the end ask forgiveness and walk on into heaven. If that's the case I been trying way to hard to live by all of God's word

1) Are you a work in progress, blue? Are you stronger in your faith then you were? Are your works more solid as a result of your improving relationship with God?

2) Have you set yourself up against him in your heart after understanding who he is beyond a shadow of a doubt?

I am not accusing you, I am establishing something. If 1) is true then you are saved regardless of your flaws. If 2) is true then you are on the fast track to hell. IJS.

Blaspheming the Son can be forgiven. Blaspheming the Spirit has serious consequences.
 
Okay, let's say you have unrepented sin, and you intend to repent in the morning, but you get killed tonight.. Would God keep you out of heaven because you died before being able to repent?

No not saved again because that is a one time thing but I believe Peter is referring to someone who never turns back to God after being saved once. Once a person knows of God they are without excuse to know they must also carry their cross.

Hi Ladybug,

I think you misunderstand what loss of salvation is. You don't lose your salvation every time you sin. Did someone here say that? Certainly I didn't.

When I say that we need to stay in the protecting arms of Jesus I mean exactly for the reason that we DO sin and He is there to protect us. We "put Him on" for our protection.
Galatians 3:27 and Romans 13:14 speak to this. If we keep Jesus, God will see His Son and not us. Jesus is our protection.
Galatians 3:27
"For all of you who were baptized into Christ have CLOTHED yourselves with Christ." NASB

It's in abandoning this protection that salvation is lost. It's when we grieve the Holy Spirit by denying the Holy Spirit and by denying God and His Son.

We don't get saved and lose salvation and then get salvation and lose salvation, etc. by sinning. This is a silly concept.
You're correct in saying that repentance is the key. We repent, ask forgiveness and continue. Even if we died before we asked forgiveness, we would still be saved by our Lord.

About the one last chance... This is off topic. But let me ask you this, WHO WOULD NOT accept salvation at that point???!!! He'd have to be the biggest idiot on earth to have God standing before him and he turns God down to go to hell !
What about Hebrews 9:27?
"...It is appointed for man to die once and after this c omes judgment." NASB

I do believe that YOU also said that if a person stops believing in God, he would no longer be saved. If I've understood this correctly, then I'd have to say that we agree.

1. Yes I am a work in progress. We all are. :) After all I've been through in recent years, yes I feel much stronger in my faith than I was before? And I certainly hope that my works are more solid. :)

2. Trick question. It's impossible to understand who God is beyond a shadow of a doubt. :) In all His mysterious ways and intricacies, more than my mind can comprehend. :)

No but that's because he will know my heart. He would know our relationship. But that's the point is we have a relationship. For people who was once saved but no longer has that relationship then God would know they never was intended to seek forgiveness.

But I think people learn better from an interchange of ideas with other than from just reading old posts - hey! if it was just finding information and opinions google can do that for any questions asked here!

Then the biggest idiots on earth would be satan worshippers, and those who don't/won't believe in God. And I was taught that the ONLY way to lose salvation was to deny God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. That's what I said that those that flat out refuse to believe in Jesus, can (might) lose salvation..

I was told by my Methodist preacher this is the main topic Methodist believe differently than Baptist. And really many Methodist/Baptist don't even know there is a big difference. So I studied and this seems to be true between the 2 denominations.
 
How did He create a rainbow, with it's glorious colors? How did He allow an animal to talk? If someone admitted animals talk today, they would be carted off to the psych ward.. :) And no human is capable of creating of such an awesome symbol as the rainbow. How could he, as a parent, make the decision to let his son be crucified on a cross? I know WHY He did it, but I can't comprehend HOW in the concept that no human parent would EVER willingly let their child be tortured and murdered..

These are some of the things my mind can't comprehend. :)

What I have a hard time comprehending is Jesus is God but son of God and so God crucified himself, while Jesus son of God cries out to God before death. Lol

Then you don't believe in OSAS - and I am right with you - all those who believe are saved! Those who do no believe are not saved!

You and I (or at least not me! :) can always tell the difference between the lost and the saved.
 
I just spend a bit of time looking over this thread - expecting the typical dogmatic stances and rebuttals, but those of you conversing here are open, learning, disagreeing, and all in the spirit of meekness, gentleness, and love.
