If you are serving others for selfish reasons (like to escape hell) then there is no love in them, and they are worthless works.

Once you put your faith in Christ, instead of requirements, then you will be able to serve others with a pure heart.

I remember the constant feeling that I was a disappointment to God, and the uncomfortable prayers.
I was saved at a Pentecostal church. I was instructed in Arminianism (although the term was never used).

If you spend enough time in the Word, you will come out of that bondage. That's really what it is. Never really feeling truly saved, because you always feel your on the border of condemnation. Always guilty, and never understanding what freedom is.

I was saved but I was also just a babe, and needed the constant reinforcement of damnation messages and Salvation messages.

One day, while reading through John 6, the Lord opened up the Truth to me, and freed me from the guilt.
I finally realized that "I heard His voice because I am one of His sheep. He never loses His sheep."
Romans and Corinthians finally made sense. The word 'predestined' finally made sense. The reason we are called His Body and His Bride finally made sense.

I hope more of you can share in that blessing, by looking to the Word for the answer, not just your minister or 700 Club.

Those are just things I do. I do them because I love my Savior.

Our sins are blotted out by the Blood of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
They are gone. Disappeared.
Not to be weighed against us.
Instead, we will be judged as righteous as Christ was righteous. He is our covering.

You should take Atwood's advice, and highlight all the passages about salvation in the NT, and contemplate them in context.
Then go through the OT and compare what you have learned about NT salvation with how the sacrificial atonement worked in the OT.
You will gain more clarity by this comparison.

This illustration has nothing to do with faith in Christ ,it has to do with seeing ,we walk by faith, not by sight

As an aside, it just came to my mind the gospel illustration. The color of sin in the Bible is red rather than black. Though your sins be as scarlet, etc. If you take a white piece of paper and mark it with a red marker SIN, then you put on red glasses (like the old 3D glasses that had red & blue lenses -- but not using blue), and you look at the white piece of paper, the word SIN in red will disappear (the shade of red on the marker has to be the same shade as the glasses to get the best effect.)

So where does "good works', and "bearing much fruit" fit in to this picture, the scriptures are full of "keep my commandments", "love me and your fellow man". Why, if it is all a "free gift" should I be worried about being "good".
The reason we follow the Saivior and do what he has taught is because our life on earth and our Christian walk on earth will be much more fulfilling. And more important, our eternal reward in heaven will be much greater. Our eternal walk with God will be much broader, and deeper, and much more fulfilling. We are good because we love God and want to be like Him and He will reward you with greater happiness throughout the eternities for your faithful behavior.

There has to be a free gift from God (OSAS), or none would make it to heaven. But for your ultimate, eternal Christian fulfillment you want to do what Jesus taught us to do, keep the commandments, and be faithful in bearing much fruit for the Kingdom of God. They are both necessary.

Two passages which I'm interested to see comments on by "anti-OSAS'ers "

Romans 10:9-10
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Note: You don't need works to have yourself justified, no you believe and are justified (But truly belive not just some fake belief that you don't mean, as said it is your heart that believes not you) and you confess your sins and you are saved.

Romans 8:38-39
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Note: Ok good, now we are saved can we loose it? According to this passage NOTHING IN CREATION can, don't nitpick saying that nothing else can but you can as I am pretty sure you are part of creation, plus life can't seperate you either or any powers. Sin and death are "powers" and they too cannot seperate you from the Lord
