Ephesians 5;19 and Colossians you say are man made laws? You say nothing in scripture says that instruments are not allowed, why would God have to put a note telling you that instruments are not authorized if he's telling you that singing is authorized, remember the two scriptures I gave you, that is authorization, but you want God to tell you directly that instruments are not allowed after telling you that only singing is allowed, are you serious?

I play drums, but not in worship when it's not authorized. Ephesians 5;19 and Colossians 3;16 is the authorization for singing only. That's great you like instruments as I do to. You also say you like instruments in church, BUT we're not there to worship you, we're there to worship God . This is why people are lost, just like you. You must believe and do what the bible says, not what you like and think.

That sounds like a double-standard to me. At least Elizabeth's approach seems to be logical.

You're in the wrong era my friend, try the N.T. Jesus died on the cross and done away with the laws of the O.T Ephesians 5;19, Colossians 3;16 is the authorization for singing only. Do you have any authorization in the N.T., NO

Sorry. Talk about legalism, You think you are better than the pharisees.

Nothing in either of those passages say a word about not have instruments. We can speak to other in song, and people can lead with music to keep us in key add to the music.

lol. wow. WHo did you get your doctrine from? I would run far away from them.

Nothing in those passages tell you instruments are not allowed. Your adding to the word of God.

I would keep my feet outside the door when they proclaim themselves to be the only one true church.

This whole belief in not using musical instruments in the NT because the Bible doesn't specifically mention musical instruments in the NT seems like hairsplitting, and doctrine building out of pure silence.

Picture this..

Dad: Eat cereal.
Me: Ok, I'm going to get a bowl and spoon.
Dad: Hey hey hey, I said eat cereal, but didn't mention a bowl and spoon, therefore a bowl and spoon aren't allowed.
Me: Well ok..but ummm..usually a bowl and spoon are just kinda assumed when eating cereal.....

Cereal = worship
bowl/spoon = instruments.

I think the association in the Bible between music and instruments is just implied. It's something that doesn't have to be spelled out anymore than eating cereal with a bowl and spoon.

Don't you know that the bowl and spoon lead to obesity??

Would you go to one that is instrumental? Obviously you don't read your bible, if you did you would know judging someone who is lost is allowed, look it up and then you'll have learned something you didn't know. True Christians take the time to make those who are lost or confused like yourself as being confused to tell you the plain truth, whether you approve of it or not. Who do you think will be judging at the end of time, look it up and you will know something that will amaze you on who it is. Worship is to be done one way, it's as simple as that,

It's called common sense, if God tells you he has authorized singing only, then just do it Ephesians 5;19 and Colossians is the authority for singing. when he has already authorized singing only Do you want God to put in there explaining to you that he doesn't want instruments, would that make you feel better, well it's not going to happen, because that would be stupid. It's a sin when you worship incorrectly. There are some stories in the bible about what happen to people who decided to do something different, the outcome wasn't good for the two.

Another good analogy! I am the Lord, I change not......Good enough in the O.T. Psalms and in heaven, but not in the worship of God in our time.....I don't buy it at all.....

Having said that, it can also be taken to far when the rock bands replace the preaching of the word!

Think a minute if you will, why would he , meaning God have to put down for you to not use instruments when he's giving you two commands to sing only, that is totally ridiculous. Ephesians 5;19 and Colossians 3;16 are your authorization for singing only, so why would you want God to tell you that he doesn't want instruments if he's already given you commands to sing only?

You're not in heaven, you're here on earth. Just like using the O.T. except you're getting ahead of yourself, and using the O.T. you're lagging behind. This is the Christian era, the N.T. is now in effect.

Hello, I'm Shava and I play the drums, but not when worshipping God, that wouldn't be appropriate.

Except... everything we do is meant to be done unto the glory of God.

Skimming the bible will do nothing but keep you lost, I urge you to really study with the right mindset, which is crucial because you are not seeing the truth.

Actually this trivial topic is one that "Christians" have used to attack me personally. It is very very hurtful. It is quite a sensitive subject to some while it may be no big deal to others, and everyone no matter their view should be respectful. Afterall there is nothing in the bible speaking against singing in worship so one should not make fun of an individual if they choose to use their voice as an instrument.

You being a legalist. And your no different than the pharisees.

WHo died and made you God?

How would it be a double standard for playing the drums at home, not in the church. If I played in church I would be like the others, lost.
