This war against drugs has to go into Venezuela and Mexico. If you simply arrest everyone in the US, deport them, and shut down the border to drug smuggling it will be like cutting off all the branches of a tree while leaving the roots and trunk. It is much easier to catch them smuggling millions of dollars worth of drugs and much harder if they are smuggling thousands of dollars worth. What will happen is you will have mules doing very low level smuggling like little sprouts on a tree. Also, the US is not the only market for drugs. The Cartels will not go out of business it will simply be winter time for them with all their leaves falling off (all those people arrested for dealing drugs) but they will come back with a vengeance in the spring time. At the very least you have to cut this tree off completely so it is nothing but a stump. You have to cripple them so bad that they are no longer paying off government officials and the police and politicians will return to doing their jobs.
Interestingly, the insurrection in Portland is tied to a last ditch defense of the cartels drug smuggling and human trafficking empire. This insurrection is tied to the Cartels, cut down the cartels and the support for this insurrection will also dry up. These are paid protestors. No one is going to pay them to protest when it is completely obvious that they have lost and you are simply pouring money down the drain.
Portland police are arresting conservative journalists and conservatives are being attacked. They may lie about this, and they may win in their local courts and it will have to go to the Supreme Court buying them a few weeks time. However, Trump can use this as an excuse to cut off all federal funding to Portland. The more money cut off to these ones in rebellion, the better.
