Opening the Doors for Guys and Other Fun Things

As a man, I am not offended when a woman opens the door for me, but it feels awkward just the same.

It only feels awkward when you're not grateful for this tiny gesture. A genuine smile and a simple "Thank you." will often suffice.

I will hold the door open for men or women, it doesn't make a difference to me. And when someone opens a door for me, I say thank you.

Based on this -

When I was in the USA, I found it very sweet how many of the guys would open doors for the women. It's not something that's very common in my home country.

Whoa? What? I have always held the door open for a lady, whether friend or stranger. And she has always replied with a 'Thank You'.

But I wouldn't be too happy if a man/woman holds the door open for me, unless he's the doorman.

I will absolutely hold/open a door for pretty much anyone, especially older folks, someone with a baby or someone with a disability that makes doors difficult. If you smile and say hello when you do it, most people will respond pleasantly. I think it is important to smile and thank someone for opening the door for me as well. We don't interact with one another as we should anymore. You never know how much difference a little kindness can make in someone's life at any given moment.

I will hold the door open for others, male, female, whatever...I thank others for holding the door for me.

Often, an older man will relieve me of the door opening if a big group of people is going through. If I hold the door open for a couple, the guy will take over holding the door so that HE is opening the door for his lady. I'd do the same in his shoes.

I try to keep doors open for others and when people do the same for me I always say thank you to them. Then again I was raised to do kind things and when people were kind towards me I tell them I'm grateful.

I don't expect a door to be held but I can appreciate when a man holds the door for me. I dont typically open.doors for men unless their hands are full or they have children. I will hold the door for anyone coming behind me. I will also give an annoyed "you're welcome" to anyone I hold the door for, walks thru and says nothing. I know it was my choice to hold it but the NY in me comes out and I get...."assertive"

I open the door for anyone, male or female, as long as they are in a considerable close distance. I do appreciate when people do the same to me, so I smile and thank them whenever that happens.

I have never been embarrassed while holding the door open for someone. I hope it stays that way. *touch wood*
