There hasn’t been anything as eye opening for me personally as this study guides by Jesus word here
“And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,”
Luke 24:44-45
this is just an example of a study that will really open up prophecy if we pursue it
A couple examples of Jesus birth
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
Isaiah 7:14 KJV
“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
Matthew 1:21-23 KJV
The sons identity and government
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”
Isaiah 9:6-7 KJV
an example of Jesus baptism
“Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth. He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.”
Isaiah 42:1, 3-4 KJV
“I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.”
Psalm 2:7 KJV
“Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”
Luke 3:21-22
an examples of Jesus preaching the gospel
Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations. The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.”
Isaiah 9:1-2 KJV
that light
“And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;
The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Matthew 4:13-17 KJV
An example of the events leading to Jesus suffering
And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.
Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the Lord of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.”
Zechariah 13:6-7KJV
“Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.”
Matthew 26:31 KJV
“And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.”
Zechariah 12:10 KJV
“My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
…For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture. I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.”
Psalm 22:1, 16-18, 22-23,
And more of the purpose and reason why he would do that
“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.”
Isaiah 53:4-7, 9 KJV
it’s amazing these are just a few examples of this study that leads to the understanding that the law prophets and psalms are predominantly about the gospel and coming of Jesus Christ.
if one takes this study on you will find a detailed account of the gospel much much more than what’s here hindreds of points in the gospel and epistles that was foretold in the law , prophets and psalms and was fulfilled in the gospel. And short time after the gospel
from Christs birth , baptism , John the Baptist’s ministry , Jesus teaching the gospel the word of life and light God had promised beforehand , his miracles , many random events in Jesus life , the events leading to his death and his resurrection , also in the prophets and psalms you find his ascention To the throne in heaven , the rule and everlasting authority of his word and kingdom over all the earth and heaven
there’s a whole witness of the gospel in the law , prophets and psalms and when we begin to realize it it really brings the message of the Bible to a unified clear message that is centered on Jesus Christ and his word
God bless I hope this inspires you to check it out for yourself !!! It’s an eye opening study
