Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

what is Paul saying ? Why is he saying the law was ordained of angels and given into the hands of a mediator ?

When Moses went up to get the commandments the people made Aaron create a golden calf and began to worship it and give Gods glory for delivering them to this idol, this false God which was the first commandment to have no other gods bow and worship to it and give them his glory stephens speech explains

“And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.

Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness? ….

…Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.”
Acts‬ ‭7:41-42, 51-53‬ ‭KJV‬

really let that sink in God turned and gave them over to heavens host for worship because they worshipped a false god

when israel Made the calf and worshipped it God had decided to destroy them all and save Moses and start over with him. Moses then pleaded with the lord he intercedes for them and God decides to not destroy them but what he does is this in his anger

Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭23:20-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

he handed them over to the ordination of the angels and set the angels disposition over the law. He gave the angels to keep them in the way and lead them into the promised land and to govern and ordain the covenant given into Moses hands who had saved israel with his intercession

So in the New Testament you find references to the word of angels and law of Moses

“Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;( the law )

How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord,( Jesus ) and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;”( his apostles and disciples )
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭2:1-3‬ ‭

you notice how this law was taken away and were warned many times not to yoke ourselves to not any longer

Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:14-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

we can’t serve the ordination of angels and we can’t be saved through thoer dispostion imprinted upon the law nor can Moses mediate any relationship between us and God.

it was because of their false worship thier transgression that the law came and was ordained of angels and given to Moses the mediator but this isn’t ordained of angels or moses mediation

the New Testament is Ordained of God and mediated by the Christ

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭2:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the angels ordination born of transgression can never save us but the gospel ordained of God and mediated by Jesus Christ and his blood can save us.

I realize it’s a rather little discussed thing before you judge the idea I would ask really consider what the scriptures say by themselves about this matter

God bless

I mostly just scanned what you typed because it is rather long. I "rescanned" it though to see what you are getting at...is there a question or point of discussion in this post? If so, I seem to have missed it.

I'm willing to have a discussion about the Angel of the Lord but not much else at present.

because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well advanced in years. So it was, that while he was serving as priest before God in the order of his division, according to the custom of the priesthood, his lot fell to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. And the whole multitude of the people was praying outside at the hour of incense. Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” And Zacharias said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.” And the angel answered and said to him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings. But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time.” And the people waited for Zacharias, and marveled that he lingered so long in the temple. But when he came out, he could not speak to them; and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple, for he beckoned to them and remained speechless. So it was, as soon as the days of his service were completed, that he departed to his own house. Now after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying, “Thus the Lord has dealt with me, in the days when He looked on me, to take away my reproach among people.” Christ’s Birth Announced to Mary Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible.”

Good post, my friend.

The first transgression is that the people returned to their tents after charging Moses to hear from the Lord for them. This is why the Lord ordained one tribe out of 12 to be the priests for the people (Levi). They were to be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. Instead, they received the Law which made them slaves to God, unable to inherit anything from the King.

"Now if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant..." This is NOT God connecting the Law to inheritance. This is the current, active covenant, the one whereby men walks with God as a sons. (This first, active covenant is personified in the example of Melchizedek.) When Moses shares this, the people respond as sons who only do what their father is doing by declaring “We will do everything that the LORD has spoken.” This is the language of sonship.

To continue...

"..you will be My treasured possession out of all the nations—for the whole earth is Mine." This is the language of inheritance; God is defining the boundary of possessions (the whole earth).

"And unto Me you shall be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’" This was NOT within the Law that the Lord gave because of transgressions. The Law made 1 tribe in 12 priests. So, we cannot say that the Lord was declaring that the Law would make the Israelites a "kingdom of priests and a holy nation".

Deuteronomy 5 explains the exchange between the people, Moses, and God:

“So it was, when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, that you came near to me, all the heads of your tribes and your elders. And you said: ‘Surely the Lord our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire. We have seen this day that God speaks with man; yet he still lives. Now therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of the Lord our God anymore, then we shall die. For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living God speaking from the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived? You go near and hear all that the Lord our God may say, and tell us all that the Lord our God says to you, and we will hear and do it.

This was the 1st transgression: the Israelites did not come into the presence of God. Then, within the Law, God fashioned a priesthood after this pattern: a man hears from God for other men. The Law, then, provided no way for the nation to become a nation of kings and priests, a holy nation. However, like Melchizedek, who is both royal and a priest, the covenant would be available through the Son who was promised, Jesus Christ. Now, through Him, all men may be connected back to the House of God by becoming a living stone of the temple not made with hands.

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, to proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."

By this covenant, men are given the indwelling of the Spirit whereby man can converse with his Father, the Living God. (As an aside, this is the reason the prophets exist today: to impart the truth to the body that God can speak to sons directly, spirit to Spirit.)

The entrance into the covenant is exclusive to Christ. All may come to the Father through Him and Him alone.

it’s just some scripture to help understand this point that Paul is making and why he’s saying it

“Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

Now a mediator is not a mediator of one,

but God is one.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:19-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

if you would like to can you give your take on what Paul’s talking about there ? What does he mean ?

I think if we truly consider the concepts set forth by the apostles in scripture while explaining things like this . It will teach us what they are actually talking about and help us better understand the gospel and purposes of the old and new covenant.

as we grow and mature letting Gods word sink deeper in it seems to call us to look beyond the surface. It’s just meant to inspire study of certain subjects really , because like anything if we really want To understand we need to go to the source and discern what’s being taught

God bless you dear sister in grace , peace and love ❤️

amen have you noticed it wasn’t the angels preaching the gospel goving the new covenant or offering thier blood of the new covenant ?

and that after Jesus comes preaching the gospel the angels serving God sort of disappears and the Christians are the ones serving Jesus according to the new covenant that came not from the angels ordination or Moses mediation

“Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:19-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

but from this mediation

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭2:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The New Testament doctrine is ordained of Gods promises in the ot , and it’s mediated by the Son Jesus Christ and they are ONE.

yeah one covenant is a shadow of the true covenant it’s like a foretelling of what would come later .

or like an illegitimate son . one covenant is cast away like ishmael and Isaac the new covenant is the only heir the first was never going to offer eternal
Life or fulfill abrahams covenant because his covenant wasn’t made with a single nation he was called Abraham because his covenant was to be the father of many nations

there’s a covenant according to Abram , and ishmael

and another Abraham and Isaac

the language of a servant is tomyoke ourselves to a law of works and swear to Perform every detail under threat of death that’s not how sons interact with God but bond servants

“For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.

Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants;

the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. For this hAgar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭4:22, 24-25‬ ‭

they weren’t sons nor could they be there’s a prophetic aspect to the law witnessing the Christ will
One day come and fulfill the promise

Sort of like this ishmael was abrams son

“And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭4:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

but that concept reaches into prophecy

When Israel was a child, then I loved him,

and called my son out of Egypt.

As they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.”
‭‭Hosea‬ ‭11:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the actual fulfillment was here it was always witnessing this fulfillment of prophecy

“And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word:

for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭2:13-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭3:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

as Christians we want to find the fulfillment of prophecy because those thkngs are all about Christ
