That's an interesting question.
I am thinking of this verse: Galatians 5:6
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.
Many months ago, I was reflecting on what this means. Faith works through love. And I understood that we have faith when we believe in, and experience, the love God has for us. Why would we have faith otherwise...? We believe in Him because He sent His Son out of love, so we could be saved, so we could live with Him forever. That's because He loves us; why else would He want to spend eternity with us...? Right?
Well, faith will automatically grow the more you meditate on God's love for you and the more you seek to see, and experience, His love.
Consider Paul's prayer in Ephesians 3:14-19
... for this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I ask that out of the riches of His glory He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. Then you, being rooted and grounded in love, will have power, together with all the saints, to comprehend the length and width and height and depth of His love, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
This is a really powerful statement. We are filled with "the fullness of God" -- which comprises faith (and faithfulness), since it's a fruit of the Spirit -- only when we "comprehend" and are "rooted and grounded" in the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge.
So if you want to have more faith, you can pray that same prayer that Paul prayed, and ask the Lord to help you see and experience His love in a way that you will be fully rooted and grounded in it. You will then be more and more filled with the "fullness of God" as you continue growing roots in the soil of Christ's love, and that will increase your faith by default. Because faith works through love.
I hope this makes sense and that it helps... : )
