Yellowface by Rebecca F Kuang

A white female writer steals her chinese american fellow writers manuscript and passes it off as her own, who dies in a freak accident. No this is not SWF single white female but more petty jealousies and literary tokenism. I wanted to know exactly what kind of whiteness the narrator was but the book didnt say. Was she actually English American or was she just your generic white person who went to Yale. Cue cultural appropriation.

In america theres different kinds right? Yanks, rednecks, descendants from the Mayflower, 'white trash' WASP...English, Irish, Scots or Welsh and any that came from the many many countries in Europe.

I dont know that anybody really refers to themselves as white when Asian people dont even say they are yellow and are more specific aboutwhat village/tribe they are from. We watch the simpsons or play with lego for ACTUAL yellow people.

I wanted the hungry ghost meme to take over after the narrator wrote herself into a corner.

Someone really yanks my chain now lol.

No Brainer Diary of A Wimpy Kid 15

Jeff Kinney is onto something when he writes about underfunded schools in America, its hilarious if it werent actually true.

Though I would like to know where exactly are the posh middle schools where you have massage bed nap times and gourmet lunches? From what I know, even private schools are seriously cash strapped from principals embezzling all the funds for their personal school holiday trips overseas. School is so stressful right its completely necessary.

As an author of several novels, I wrote paranormal mysteries/crime. Since being saved last year, I want to focus on the Christian supernatural thrillers in the future.

I haven't been writing much at all...nothing much to write about..

I've been reading a lot, mostly hardbacks.

Maybe one day I'll be inspired. Who knows.

The Library of Flowers was the last paperback novel I read.
It had a colourful design stamped on the edge of the pages..I don't know what it's called, but the cut of the pages was dyed red with flowers.

It was about a Chinese girl who inherits a dynasty of a perfume business. She creates perfumes and has the gift/curse of being the 5th daughter in the lineage which means her perfumes have the power of attracting true love to the wearer.

At first I found this hard to get into as she's constantly complaining about not knowing if she has the gift. But when it seems like she DOES have it, she doubts whether it works or does any good. Her love-life is a mess, her parent's marriage is failing, and her business may go under if she can't pay the rent.

I loved reading the descriptions of perfumes, and how they were made/created. I forget the author's name but look it up, I recommend it if you want something a bit different...and as being fiction/chick lit of course you are guaranteed a happy ending!

Oh I lie, I now have 5 Roald Dahl paperbacks I got from op shop $2 each
I was hoping to find Charlie and the Chocolate Factory but alas no copies.

So I picked up
Matilda
The Twits
Fantastic Mr Fox
The BFG
James and the Giant Peach

I have to say, the first one I ever read was The Twits. I loved that story.
Then when Matilda came out ...it was 1988. I was 8 years old at the time. In the books she was 5-6 years old. In the movie she was played by 9 year old Mara Wilson.
I first read Matilda when I was maybe 9 or 10.

Matilda is my favourite of all the Roald Dahl books.

Roald Dahl died in 1990, I was 10 years old, I remember being devastated.
The movie Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (based on the OG book) was a staple of our childhoods always shown on TV around Easter. Can't believe that book was first published in 1964.

This was the OG Matilda paperback, published by Puffin, a division of Penguin Books

You could write about me, I like to think I am an interesting Character.

Um ok, what is the plot arc?

Give me a sypnosis or a first opening sentence to start me off.
Well I was thinking you could write the continuation of my journey to find work to get off social assistance picking from where I left off from the book I wrote. I wrote an autobiography on my life up to February 2018 when I sent the manuscript to the publisher.

Sorry I never read your first book or manuscript so I don't have much of an idea of what you did in your life except from what you posted here, and I'd have to make up the bits I don't really know.

How many pages was your manuscript and when was it actually published?

I_am_Canadian

I already sent you a postcard.
I haven't received any postcard back
And you want me to write an entire book about you?
I gave you a job!

Have you done it yet?

Postcards from New Zealand

Greetings from Lanolinland!
I am Lanolin. I sent I_am_Canadian a postcard about two months ago, and I still haven't received any postcard back! That card cost me $3.50 in stamps so it wasn't cheap.
I am furious at the Postman/woman because he may not be doing His/Her job. I am considering writing in and complaining to NZ post on their slow service picking up the Airmail at Mangere Airport from Canada.
Unless, there is a conspiracy of cans afoot in the great nation of Canada, which I heard started burning with Hellfire last week.
Oh dear, I hope Mr I_am_Canadian is alright and not locked up in some prison near Alcatraz or Prince Edward Island or whatever Northern Hemisphere Island in nearest to Ontario.

Who knows? I am Lanolin. AMA. Ask Me Anything. If anyone knows anything about anything, it should be me.

You fast writers. Must be nice because it would take me at least 6 months to do either of those things. 🙃
But don't you write Parables?
Those are short and sweet.
I'm sure you can knock out a few under 6 months.

It's Parable. I'm good with one story and that's about it. And even that takes a LONG time. lol

Procrastination is a hard thing to get past. 🙃
