This parable serves as a warning to Christians today. In the old testament times it was easier to recognize believers in contrast with modern times. There will always be false teachings or false Christians, which is what this parable explains in Matthew chapter 13. The "field" is the world and the "seed" are the people. The fruit that was "sprung up" are the saved and the "tares" are the unbelievers and false Christians of the world.
Matthew 13:24-27 The "enemy" is satan and the "tares" are his followers. Tares were also called "darnel," which was a weed that resembled wheat. False believers can often times resemble Christians, which is what Jesus warns!
Matthew 13:28-30 The servants "gather them up"(weeds).......this is like calling out these "fake" Christians: "while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them." So to "call out" these false Christians we could also complicate a young Christians faith. Jesus says, "let both grow together until the harvest." Harvest meaning judgment. **Jesus teaches the "tares" are gathered, bound, and burned. The wheat(saved) are gathered into my barn(Heaven).
**Like many of Jesus' parables, He often times explained them privately to His disciples, V36. Remember, those who have a desire to seek out God's truth is why He spoke in parables.
God Bless!!!

At Harvest Time the wheat bows, but the tares do not***so humility and submission to the Lord in these last days is one way to know believers...
