Passover/Pesach begins before sundown on Wed Apr 1, 2026 & ends after nightfall on Apr 9, 2026

Passover week:
Christ triumphal occurs on Nisan 10 (the day the Passover lamb is chosen, see Lev 23:3 below), Christ is killed on Nisan 14 (see Lev 23:6 below). 3 day's later He's resurrected.

Lev 23: (paraphrased vs 1-5)
1 the LORD spake to Moses & Aaron in Egypt, saying,

2 The month of Nisan shall be the 1st month of the year to you.

3 On the 10th day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb:
(NOTE: The Passover lamb is chosen on Nisan 10. God's chosen Lamb rode into Jerusalem a donkey, on Nisan 10)

5 Your lamb shall be without blemish:
(NOTE: Jesus was sinless 2 Cor 5:21, Heb 4:15, 1 Jn 3:5 1 Pet 1:19, 1 Pet 2:22)

6 ye shall keep it up until the 14th day of the same month & kill it in the evening.
(NOTE The Passover lamb is to be killed on Nisan 14. Jesus approximate Nisan 14 timeline: Day begins at sundown, last supper with the 12 (7-9pm), Gethsemane Jesus prays (9pm-midnight), arrest (midnight), Priests accuse, abuse & condemn Him (midnight-6am), taken to Pilate questioned, scourged & sentenced (6am-8am), nailed to the cross (9am) dies (3pm) all on Nisan 14.)

7 the 1st day will be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
(NOTE: "Holy" = set apart/sanctified (Hebrew qadash, H6942). "Convocation" = rehearsal/recital (Hebrew miqra, H4744). A "holy convocation" is a set‑apart yearly rehearsal, performed for 1500 years, in which Israel rehearsed Messiah's coming sin‑payment death.)

1 Cor 5:7 (C) For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
(NOTE: Christ is our Passover Lamb)

Covenantal Restrictions

Ex 12:43-48. No foreigners, servants, sojourners or strangers could partake in the in the Passover meal unless they were circumcised. (Also see Gen 17:7-14)
(NOTE: Only those under the covenant of circumcision could eat the Passover meal.)

1 Cor 11:27 Who ever eats this bread, & drinks this cup of the Lord, unworthily, will be guilty of the body & blood of the Lord
(NOTE: Many people force SIN into this verse. Jesus, who gave the ordinance, paid for believers sins. The warning is directed at non believers. Those not sealed with the New Covenant indwelling Holy Spirit. Just as the uncircumcised were forbidden to partake in the OT, non believers are not to partake in this NT ordinance.)

Purpose of the Ordinances

Ex 12:14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
(NOTE: MEMORIAL = a reminder/record or chronicle of redemption)

1 Cor 11:24-25 Do this in remembrance of Me.
(NOTE: The Lord's Supper is a remembrance of Christ's finished redemptive work & a forward expectation of His soon return.)

Passover & the Lord's Supper are God‑given ordinances & decrees given as memorials of redemption/deliverance (Ex 12:26–27, 42–49).
For Jews: deliverance from slavery & the 10th plague/angel of death & For Christians: deliverance from sin & death

Jn 6:53-58 Speaks to the importance of our partaking

Frequency: Acts 20:7 suggests weekly observance, as do Lev 24:9 & 1 Chron 9:32.

Christ's Death & Temple Tradition
9 AM, Nisan 14: The Temple priest tied the lamb to a stake. The shofar was blown so all knew the lamb was prepared for sacrifice.

Early Nisan 14:God's sinless Lamb carried His cross to Calvary & at 9 am (Mk 15:25), Jesus, the Lamb of God, was nailed to the cross.

3 pm, Nisan 14. The Temple priest killed the lamb & blew the shofar so all knew the lamb had been slain.

At 3 pm (Mk 15:33), the Temple priest blew the shofar to announce the death of the sacrifice, and Jesus, hearing the sound, cried out “Tetelestai” — It is finished
(NOTE: Tetelestai is also an accounting term meaning “completed, paid in full.”)

""High Day""
Jn 18:28: Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover
(NOTE: Jesus is taken to the Gentile judgment hall on Nisan 14, the day the lamb is killed, before the Seder meal eaten on Nisan 15.)

Jn 19:31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
(NOTE: A High Day is not necessarily the weekly Sabbath. 6 of the 7 possible days on which Nisan 15 can fall are High Sabbaths. A High Sabbath is the 1st day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Jesus died on Passover/Nisan 14. Nisan 14 is always a DAY OF PREPATATION, for the Seder meal, eaten on Nisan 15 & always treated as a Sabbath even when it doesn't fall on day the Sabbath.

Jesus was removed from the cross on Nisan 14/day of preparation before sunset 6-7pm).

I know that in the New Testament Jesus Christ and the twelve apostles celebrated the Passover with the Lord's Supper. Jesús Christ and the twelve apostles ate the Passover meal and celebrated the Passover and festival of unleavened bread with unleavened bread and wine. Jesus Christ broke the unleavened bread and said eat this for it is my body and then Jesus Christ poured out the glass of red wine and said drink this for it is the blood of the New Covenant to represent the remission of sins. The Passover and festival of unleavened bread has to do with God of the Hebrews setting the Israelites free from the house of bondage of Egypt. Unleavened bread is bread made without yeast. Sacrament and Holy Communion.
