It is brand loyalty.
When I was in high school they had pep rallies on the Fridays before big school football games. Yay! Our team is the best and the other team sucks and probably can't even read! I always sat in the front office reading a book because the noise hurt my ears.
I have friends who are Ford fanboys or Chevy fanboys or iPhone fanboys or... To be a fanboy you have to not only believe that your product is best but you also have to refuse to believe that the competing product can be any good at all. IPhone fanboys have to diss Android anytime they get the opportunity. Apple actively encourages this behavior.
Patriotism is about the same. It's being a fanboy about a country.
Mind you, I personally like this country and I plan to stay here for the rest of my life, unless something changes drastically. This country has to be at least a little bit good... Lots of people keep trying to sneak in!
. But I'm not going to argue with somebody from Switzerland that my country is better than their country. I just don't have enough patriotism for that.

Yes I'm a patriot. A patriot means loving your country and your freedom. Understanding that freedom doesn't come free and appreciating it.
When you understand freedom doesn't come free, you understand guns are not in the constitution for "hunting". Not being naive in thinking those in charge are all "for the people" and believe in "the golden rule." Nothing could be further from the truth. Many are very classy criminals.
Today it also means not following the globalist political agenda, being a Christ follower, and thinking for yourself (verses being brainwashed by the media and school system). It is typically intertwined with Trump as he is abolishing the current corrupt government system. Without this fix from within we would be heading into a civil war with our own government, who were deliberately attacking us from within and with bioweapons (covid), fraudulent elections, fraudulent war funding, fraudulent funding, money laundering, school indoctrination, abolishment of the family unit and invasion of illegal criminals to take full government control, etc.
