"In this study, Gregory Beale argues that the Old Testament tabernacle and temples were symbolically designed to point to the end-time reality that God's presence, formerly limited to the Holy of Holies, was to be extended throughout the whole cosmos. Hence, John's vision in Revelation 21 is best understood as picturing the new heavens and earth as the eschatological temple. This exposition traces the theme of the tabernacle and temple along the Bible's story-line, also illuminating many texts and closely related themes. It shows how the significance the symbolism of the temple can be better understood in the light of contrasts to and similarities with Ancient Near Eastern assumptions, and offers new insights into the meaning of the temple in both Old and New Testaments."
So intriguing, I can't imagine how it isn't an eye opener. Gotta set that upon my mountain list of books to read.
I think all believers face this dilemma at one time or another in their lives, especially as they age and the various physical complications that accompany old age bring on.
Not so much "if God gave you a choice," as it is........do I really want to keep suffering, or do I want to go Home? I believe that from God's perspective, if He still has something for us to do, He will encourage us, strengthen us, and enable us to do what it is He has for us to do.
In reality, this is why many of the Christians I know have Living Wills that state they do not want to be put on Life Support just to be kept around a wee bit longer, and/or have Do Not Resuscitate clauses in their Living Wills.
Anyway............in the end, I ask God to allow me to live as long as He wills me to live, for I do enjoy certain things of this world in spite of the hardships and suffering I endure. Family, Friends, Fishing and Fellowship! The 4-F's of this life.

Beale incorrectly identifies the whore in the book of revelation - any theology that states the whore as anything other than apostate 1st century Jerusalem is in error.
The book of revelation is focused on the judgement of apostate 1st century Jerusalem for killing the prophets as per Jesus:
Luke 13:34 'Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that is killing the prophets, and stoning those sent unto her, how often did I will to gather together thy children, as a hen her brood under the wings, and ye did not will.
Rev 18:20 'Be glad over her, O heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets, because God did judge your judgment of her!'
The book of revelation is bracketed front and back with imminent time statements - to ignore them is totally misunderstand the book:
Rev 1:1 A revelation of Jesus Christ, that God gave to him, to shew to his servants what things it behoveth to come to pass quickly; and he did signify it, having sent through his messenger to his servant John,
Rev 1:3 Happy is he who is reading, and those hearing, the words of the prophecy, and keeping the things written in it -- for the time is nigh!
Rev 22:10 And he saith to me, 'Thou mayest not seal the words of the prophecy of this scroll, because the time is nigh
"To come to pass quickly" and "the time is nigh" is not 1900 years and counting into John's future otherwise language means nothing.
The whore is gone, punished and perished in the days of vengeance:
Luke 21:22 because these are days of vengeance, to fulfil all things that have been written.

I believe things people enjoy now on this earth and in this life will seem like distant shadows compared to what it's to be revealed to us in Christ in the life to come.
