Here is something I read from a christian and I found that so beautiful....

"I often use the pearl story as a perfect illustration of what irritation, hardship, pain can become of...
The oyster and its pearl....
An irritation occurs when the shell of the oyster is invaded by an alien substance - like a grain of sand. When that happens, all the resources within the tiny, sensitive oyster rush to the irritated spot and begin to release healing fluids that otherwise would have remained dormant. By and by the irritant is covered by a pearl. Had there been no irritating interruption, there could have been no pearl.
No wonder our heavenly home has at its entrance pearly gates! Those who go through them need no explanation. They are the ones who have been wounded and bruised and have responded to the sting of irritations with the pearl of ajustment.
J.B. Phillips must have realized this as he paraphrased James 1:2-4: "When all kinds of trials and temptations crowd into your lives, my brothers and sisters, don't resent them as intruders, but welcome them as friends! Realize that they come to test your faith and to produce in you the quality of endurance. But let the process go on until that endurance is fully developed, and you will find you have become men and women of mature character."
Will my respond to the sting of that season produce a pearl?
Only God and the future will show...For the meantime, I fully identify with this sensitive oyster, that feels bruised and wounded...but rushes to the irritated spot, daily asking my Lord to help me to produce those healing fluids, that only He is the source of.
It helps me if I remember that God is in charge of my day, of my season, of my life,...not I.
While He is pleased with the wise management of time and intelligent planning from day to day, He is mainly concerned with the development of inner character. He charts growth toward maturity, concerning Himself with the cultivation of priceless, attractive qualities that make us Yeshua-like down deep within.
Adjustments to irritations is quite effective method in that developmental process.
Pearls are the product of pain...
It is the symbol of stress - a healed wound...a precious, tiny jewel conceived through irritation, born of adversity, nursed by ajustments.
Some oysters are never wounded...and those who seek for gems toss them aside, fit only for stew."
