I'll ask the main question. What are your personal dualities? What aspects of yourself appear diametrically opposed to one another yet somehow manage to fit into what makes you, you (aside from being both saint and sinner, that goes without saying)?

Now a more thorough explanation for what I mean:

Reading a biography on Abraham Lincoln recently, I noticed a boatload of dualities in him. Seeming contradictions that were reconciled in the fact that he was a thoroughly complex and interesting person.

Some examples:

Depressed, yet a joker rife with witticisms.

Indirect and passive, yet a man of ambition and action.

Not a compulsive planner, yet he believed in a great plan affecting all things over which individuals had little say.

He obsessed over his unimpressive heritage (particularly the fact he was the son of a bastard), yet found solace in forging a new path.

Some say he was transcendentalist, I just think he was transcendent as a person.

But then, I don't think this is entirely uncommon. Sure, Father Abraham is an exceptional example, but I can think of a few friends offhand who pick out their personal dualities and claim to be special because of them.

Most of us have a few. What are yours?

Being light in the midst of darkness and being quite in the midst of light. LOL i have my fair share od contradictions too we all do thats what make us so amazing life like. Whats Yours?

I think it depends on context but:
Anti-social and yet very social
Introverted yet extroverted
Leader yet follower at work
Optimistic yet pessimistic
Cynical yet hopeful

I'm incredibly attractive, and yet extremely humble!

I am overwhelmingly brilliant, and yet my posts would suggest otherwise!

I get pessimistic when I talk to optimistic people (I can't figure out why, and I probably never will. Do you have hope for me? Yeah? Who cares!). See what I mean?

I try to get serious, and yet "A horse walks into a bar, and the bartender says 'Why the long face?'" - that happens!!!

I always enjoy the thought of finishing a post, and yet.........................................

I'm smart, yet I can be pretty stupid.

Sometimes, I feel like I can't do enough, then other times I feel like I don't get enough time to just sit down and not do anything.

I can be social yet anti-social.

I can be very much an introvert and an extrovert.

There's probably more but can't remember them right now.

self-absorbed yet.. oh no, wait a minute, this isn't a duality lol

I love Philosophy and quiet reflective study; Also College and Professional Football.

I am really outgoing and being around people really energizes me yet, I spend most of my time alone.

I like the Band Bad Religion.

I like playing sports with people Soccer, Ultimate, Flag Football, Disc Golf, Adult Kickball and yet, I also play Star Trek Online.

I love cooking but, I hate cooking for myself. I don't like the idea of creating a mess for myself to clean up.

I like going surfing but, I don't really like "Going to the Beach" to lay in the sand and make Castles. Its just too Dirty, (unless there are sports to be played)

Lately I'm tired but awake. Seriously though, I've been told I'm funny, but I am also serious.

I liked the movie Lincoln. Did anyone else see it.

Im organized, but messy.

I don't care, yet i do care.

Cause that is what the movie is about. :)

I'm pretty quiet offline, but I'm not shy about speaking up, and not easily intimidated

I like to attend a lot of events but prefer to go solo.

I dress extremely feminine, refuse to wear pants, but I work in a male dominated environment

I'm not affectionate, outwardly expressive, or particularly emotional but I love to help people improve their circumstances. I'm the worst person to come to if someone just needs a shoulder to cry on, but ill bend over backwards to figure out a solution for a friend's problem or direct them to whoever is better equipped.

I love math, finance, working with charts and graphs, working on analytically oriented tasks, etc. but I'm also really into DIY/crafting and the piano.

Introverted, yet friendly and fun-loving
quiet, yet fiery
shy, but bold when it comes to things I truly believe in
tomboy, but loves high heels
high IQ, but absentminded and goofy at times

I'm an Extrovert , yet I can find peace and rest being alone.

I love being outside, exploring and appreciating nature, even doing sports; yet I spend most of my time reading or doing indoor activities.

I'm very affectionate, yet I don't know how to respond when someone is very affectionate towards me.

I love planning, yet I rarely make plans for myself. I'm a spontaneous person who sometimes aspires to be a planner.

I have a lot of plans and ambitions, yet I usually just wait for the right timing to carry out my plans. (Which is why I often end up being spontaneous.)

I like videogames and books with a deep story, yet I can enjoy playing Mario Kart and reading the news.

I like deep conversations, yet I enjoy talking about everyday stuff.
